IMO all the southerners will be gutted. Watch the low go south into France 😂😂😂

Yorkshire gets bummed in these set-ups. Winds go SE, warm North Sea and shower or steamer after shower or steamer goes straight through our area.

Never forecast even at T + 0. Our area needs a NE wind for any SIGNIFICANT snow and looks what coming. AND the good thing is all models agree pretty much on this. EVEN BETTER is assuming the low does go south then the 850’s will be colder making it less marginal.

Now let just hope my theory is correct 🤞 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Meant winds go NE NOT SE sorry

Yep that’s what I’m hoping for I do brilliant here of North Sea streamers 😍😍🙏🙏❄️❄️

Interesting week coming up will it snow or not. Models switching about all over the place now looks to be the way to go.

A bit of wet snow/sleet mixed in with the heavier rain this morning here as well.  Hopeful  we might see some snow late Thursday into Friday but Wolds and NY Moors most likely to see the best of it.  Those of us further inland are really dependent on shower streamers setting up.

On the subject of the Mad thread, I’ve almost given up on it.  It’s mostly impossible to read at this time of year when anything wintry is in the offing.  To be honest, there are probably less than 10 members who are actually worth reading, the rest is largely ill informed speculation.

Fingers crossed we get a bit of snow to kick off the winter!

Watching in anticipation and looking forward to some buzz of excitement in here ❄️

That was my thinking as well, SSTs too high at the moment unless we get deep cold. Inland over the high ground will be a different story I suspect.

Well looking mostly and frosty for us once we got tonight's showers overnight. If we are lucky they give us a bonus bit of wintriness.

I really don't mind everyone posting and expressing their opinions based on each run, this is the purpose of that thread. But there are always fellow members overestimating the cold spells just for the sake of it, just to bring some positivity. "Oh, there is a huge cold pool in NE Europe, things are looking good".

All these members forget 2 major factors, the Atlantic and the Azores high. Most of the times there's cold in our NE, deep cold. To get a portion of this cold over here we need a proper blocking and still snow events are not certain. There are so many parameters that need to go our way  it's like playing Euro Millions and expecting to win. This is the case for Midlands and south of it especially.

That said, I'd rather have Northerlies or cold Northwesterlies with proper organised lows coming in, maybe on the marginal side yes but this again me talking about my back yard.

North sea showers skirting our region tonight, a month later with the right synoptics we would be right in the game if snow is your nirvana, but the North sea currently is our warming blanket. To my untrained eye tho we appear to be pointing in the right direction, longer term....

Thursday night into Friday is looking good for snow showers.

I don't know if you've seen the Monday 18z but it's looking pretty good for a lengthy cold spell.

They'll be regular updates from the met Office in due course I should imagine. Octon to Sledmere usually cops for snow showers.

As does Staxton Hill and Garrowby Hill. Bridlington is generally sleet.

Travel 12 miles inland and it' can be a different world as you know.

We had snow for a time this morning above 350m. It settled, a nice surprise.

Nice , I think there's going to be quite a nice few surprises for a lot of people in the coming days.

My grand daughter hasn't seen snow before she's only 3. She'll be fascinated by it especially near Christmas 🎄 ☺️

Looks like a long dry spell for us coming up. Still can change though.

Certainly, if the snow doesn’t come to me I may have to go for a little drive 😍

I live about 2 mile from Octon roundabout, which is a prime spot 👍

I wonder if that little band on the Scottish coast will make it here this evening 🤔🤔

Anything can happen in these setups fingers crossed for Yorkshire ❄️

I wish I had your optimism. In my opinion nothing will come up from this setup especially inland. Maybe a few showers in the NE. It's the same setup as last year. It will be just cold and dry until the Atlantic kicks in, probably mid next week.

Well a nice fine day here at the coast, with sunshine at lunchtime and a WNW wind force 3-4. Temperatures at 6c. A cold wind.

What was interesting was the line of instability thrown up by the lift from the cliffs at the coast, looking north.

Compare that with the view looking west, almost cloudless

Its a shame this setup is early in the winter, as I have said up thread I think the sea is too warm for snow at the coast, but inland over the Wolds will be be a different story I reckon. The instability creates a high possibility of thundersnow here when conditions are right. Just a pity its the end of November and not mid January, or of course much deeper cold as happened in 2010.
