It's just exploded in intensity over that area and looks as if it will continue to do so.. right where we don't need it!

Sounds like you've got your own wee Triangle of Doom, up there, Stephen?

Yeah always bad by B&Q, I'm sure the path toward Tesco & the M53 is a write off. I wonder how high the Birkett is getting too (by the golf course) , I've noticed that getting higher & higher over the years, won't be long before that breaks onto the slip road one day.

I went to Tesco about 5pm, Birkett was really high then. The part of the road by B&Q which always seems to get flooded was clear though unusually.

Wasn't expecting the transition to snow so early here. Are things moving through faster than expected?

That does seem strange, maybe they've sorted the drainage there?

All going to plan as per WRF if not slightly better. I always said 8 pm for widespread snow to start and I’m sticking to it.

my location Irlam and Runcorn snow 8 pm, Manchester 830, Glossop and Peaks 9 pm.

Just drizzle here and even the torrential type.

there’s a large gap between the biblical rain currently across Greater Manchester and the other heavy band heading across the Ribble Valley and we are pretty much in the middle of it.

It hasn’t been the case all day though and we’ve had heavy rain throughout but fortunately we look to have missed out on the worst of the flooding around the region.

temperatures are dropping back now, currently 3.5c from a max of 10c so maybe a chance of snow providing, and I never thought I’d be saying this today, the precipitation crosses here.

Lashing it down really thick rain ha if that makes sense, can't work out if it's now turning to sleet.

It’s snowflakes which have melted a few hundred metres up but retain their shape and stuck together with other melting flakes that makes the rain thick and coagulated. Always a precursor to snow transition.
