4.1°C here now, 3.8 at Crosby. For what it’s worth that’s about 1.5–2° lower than what the WRF predicted for this time.

That’s the plan. Should be heavy precip all evening starting soon.

if that happened & timed perfectly then surely it would start to get interesting with re to snow chances?

I was thinking  that my self looking to see if the Welsh hills are adding to it

times like this we really could do with 20mm of snow to at least slow the water flow

Exactly, that’s why am taking it seriously and have put a post on FB warning friend/family to watch out in case.

you could be right.. we do need something to slow it down, but unless its cold enough it's just going to be an 'all at once' raid thaw into river systems... yikes..

Looking at the midrange output more rain for our region with a mild spell guaranteed to coincide with a lot more rain plus what ever snow is lying at higher ground.

Could do with some high pressure to dry everyone to.

Could be one of those situations where it looks impressive falling, with giant flakes, but doesn't settle.

I do feel for most, the snow window is pretty small because as soon as that low deepens even more, winds will be off the Irish Sea and any snow turning back to rain. Should remain as snow for the Pennine regions and areas with decent height.

It's ashame the low did not quite have a more favourable shape to it but it's what it is. Hopefully some part of the region gets hammered though.

Currently 6C here, most recent MET update has pulled the snow back to a 10pm start (was 11pm last update)  predicting 1C without transitioning from sleet either just straight from heavy rain to heavy snow. hmm will have to see.

I just noticed last few frames on the rain radar the ppn have turned (green) wintry in the Irish Sea/St George's channel.

Looking ahead, seems like it may be favoring more colder conditions longer than originally forecast -could all change I know, but hopefully there will be something for everyone to enjoy(providing you like snow of course) during the next few days, either way I'm keeping positive

The Peak District is home to a wide variety of magnificent hills, moors, outcrops and gritstone edges.

Alternating between Moderate - Pouring Heavy rain here in S Cheshire all morning quite a bit of surface flooding on the low lying country lanes - Crewe/ Nantwich way and haven’t seen the garden this sodden since last February’s big storm. On the fringes of the Amber Warning. May well see some wet snow tonight even this low down with if it’s as heavy as forecast some temporary accumulation of a few cm if it’s light though we’ll see only a slush fest mess. Higher ground Macclesfield upwards - Peak District & Pennines looking good though but we shall see what happens.

Popped my head out of the back door a few mins ago, saw  the familiar yellow flash of gritter truck lights making their way up the A537 Buxton road.

Sleet here. Massive flakes in the rain. Three hours earlier than forecast.
