Alternating between Moderate - Pouring Heavy rain here in S Cheshire all morning quite a bit of surface flooding on the low lying country lanes - Crewe/ Nantwich way and haven’t seen the garden this sodden since last February’s big storm. On the fringes of the Amber Warning. May well see some wet snow tonight even this low down with if it’s as heavy as forecast some temporary accumulation of a few cm if it’s light though we’ll see only a slush fest mess. Higher ground Macclesfield upwards - Peak District & Pennines looking good though but we shall see what happens.

Thanks for that Joe Snow, my sentiments entirely across here in Crewe. Local stream is high but not so far as high as last February. Garden is saturated and flooded but it's been like this - off and on - for quite a while. Barometer has been falling, and whilst the rain has eased off in the last hour, the wind has also picked up. A sign of things to come perhaps?

Rain has started the process of turning to snow at Penrith. Some drops are big fat icy splodges on the windscreen. It’s still got a fair way to go before you can even call it sleet but it’s on the way. Earlier than I expected, and it’s 4c. Not sure it’ll be able to settle on anything mind!

I don't have a rain gauge anymore but according to netweather radar I've had close to 70mm in the last 24 hours.

That is a significant drop, really on the coast? It is 6 degrees here. I'm confused by some of the temp recordings, 4s and 5s in Merseyside. Perhaps my sensor is wrong..

Alas can report Wetherlam now has a white cap, snowline about 600m.

Wow; foul as 40 ar**holes out there

Just been up to Lango to get firewood and it's absolutely lashing it down

5ºC, the A59 is more or less flooded right across in places; the Ribble back in Walton le Dale is literally at the fields height now and if this keeps up, I reckon it'll break banks this evening. It's already over onto the fields at Brockholes etc

Interestingly though Dan, the flood warnings for Walton le Dale and Fishwick were removed around midday, the EA are normally pretty good, maybe the rainfall not as heavy as expected?

It’s just the way the colder air is undercutting from the west also evaporative cooling.

Very surprised as it's brimmed...

There are some terraces in the village that have got their pumps going; those on Chorley Road Corner etc
