Because there is a maritime inversion above the surface which is slightly above freezing. The lowest places will be the coldest places tonight. Should mix out as wind goes offshore early hours.

It’s supposed to slide to our South just grazing the southern parts of the region but it may be a bit further north than forecast.

Absolute DISGRACE from the Met Office tonight. I’m a driver, I’m out till 11pm and it’s the worst I’ve seen it in about 5 years. Every road is iced over, every path is lethal. It’s shocking. How can they not issue an ice warning here?! -1C already...

can’t see the front reaching here tomorrow. Even if it does, all be gone by Monday

Tomorrow’s front is looking slightly further north than forecast. Not getting hopes up for anything but south of Manchester may well see some light  falling snow at least tomorrow from it if it reaches this far north.

-1c and icy out as others have said definitely needed an ice warning tonight it really hasn’t been the Met Office’s winter warning wise - the Storm Christoph snow definitely warranted a flash Amber ⚠️

Yep lethal out, snow cover on roads, freezing flood waters, very icy. Very surprised.

Assumed it was an error earlier

Honestly don’t know what’s going on with them at the moment. It’s like all the forecasters are off isolating and they’ve left the forecasting to the caretaker. They should be ashamed.

If that chart was showing that much snow anywhere away from the south, it wouldn’t even get posted and they’d be focussing on the Greenland high on T+999

Totally unrealistic from a weakening front. 1-3cm max
