Downgraded text from the Met.

It's gone from snow, to sleet & snow, to rain, sleet & snow!

Yep, the slow watering down of chances continues... We should have a firmer idea on potential later tomorrow.

ICON Fri 12z - Sat 12z

Better

Yes 12z ICON is an upgrade on the 06z. A good few hours of snow for most of the region, albeit some of it quite light. Very little rain shown , only for the very far south of the region by 4pm. The peak of the snow’s intensity appears to be in the morning.

MetO app now shows snow here from 3-9am with an ESE’ly of 14mph.

So ICON has a spell of heavy snow 6am through til 2pm for the south of the region moving north east before stalling further north.

Still time for the all important correction south to have it all snow and for longer too.

Met office last update now shows heavy snow from 6am-12pm then light from 12pm-4pm .. will hopefully be a decent update from the UKV when the 15:00Z run comes out.

That is a tease.

If that slows more and corrects South by say 40 miles, then the Holy Grail is a real possibility.

A bit of snow on the tops here today from this morning's brief flurries although the cold wind has been relentless all throughout the day with it feeling like -7'c out on the hill and exposed to it. I'm keeping a eye for next week as if we get any decent accumulations I might head out a bit further afield (still within the High Peak area) for some proper leg-busting hikes through any deep snow.

Same again tomorrow, same again Monday, then bingo a lot of snow!

Followed by a big freeze!

There has been a decent signal for Tuesdays 'event' for a good 4 or 5 days now in various models, I honestly thought it would have been completely watered down already by now..  the fact it hasn't and we are still in the game is quite something!

I think those charts slightly flatter to deceive in all honesty, even the UKMO too me looks not as good as this mornings run.

I'm still going for the snow turning to rain event with the front stalling over southern Scotland.

I'd agree. Especially imby.  Now looking likely ppn will reach here, but with an e/se I'm struggling  to see significant  ppn amounts for here at least.

It’s interesting you say that as the MetO app for my location has improved since this morning.

The progression between the T+72 and T+96 MetO charts are very much suggestive of a stalling front. Somewhere could strike it lucky.

Note how the low starts to fill in situ.

Very encouraging charts for Tuesday. Should be careful what we wish for with Southerly corrections, but a few small nudges South would be nice.

I'm liking the look of the NASA model as we move into Feb. And it's similar to GFS at the same time period.
