Didn't get as cold as expected in Darlo which means we thankfully avoided all that rain turning to ice

Yellow snow warning issued for Durham & Northumberland

16:00 Tomorrow to 04:00 Thursday

Spells of snow are expected to develop Wednesday late afternoon and early evening, mainly in areas above 100 to 200 m. Later on Wednesday evening and during Thursday early hours this snow will then turn to rain as milder weather conditions spread across the British Isles.

Meanwhile, below 100 to 200 m, snow may fall briefly during the late afternoon and early evening before turning to rain. Snow accumulations will be mainly in areas above 200 to 300 m with several centimetres of snow falling in some places, especially in Scotland, and above 400 m more than 10 cm of snow is possible in places.

Pouring with snow in Washington.  Sticking too.  Not going to last I don't think but lush to see.

Heaviest snowfall for quite a while here over the last hour has left about 2 inches.

Yes, took me by surprise as don't think many forecasts showed any snow & even the radar showed sleet. Obviously that marginal, thick & sticky type & agree definitely the fall of the season.

Looking across Derwent Valley & the snow line quite low too

A few flakes blowing in the wind but yesterday's surprise fall pretty much all thawed

Tonight's snow event as specified in the Met office warning a high ground event only, 400m tops. Not sure where they have the 100-200m threashold from. If anything they underestimated yesterday's snowfalls, but have over estimated today's - credibility waning fast.

Really does feel warm today in that sunshine, a vast improvement on what we've had so far this spring!

Nice cluster of thunderstorms around Durham. I guess after all the dashed hopes of snow in recent weeks, we can dash our hopes on a thundery spring instead.

Light snow just starting & forecast for next 4hrs. Hoping to get break in clouds later so I can hopefully catch the aurora again. Never thought I would be wishing snow clouds to do one 🤦‍♂️
