Morning all,

3.2c after an overnight low of 2.8c. Still waiting on our first air frost (was down to 0.2c last week) but that’s not unusual for the balmy East Neuk, end of November is typically when we record it. +1c up the road at Leuchars.

There was an air frost here this morning just a bit further from the coast. Beautiful sunshine now at 1C with grass still white away from direct sunshine.

First post in a while as the upcoming potential cold spell has caught my attention and brought me out of lurker mode. Trying to make sense of the model thread but always leave feeling more confused than I was before entering 😂

It seems to be looking promising for some at least seasonal weather as we enter December - albeit I am sure many of us will be keeping an eye on heating costs if we do get a prolonged bout of cold weather.

About to get on a plane for a few days work in Stavanger and then on to Oslo so I will certainly get a taste of colder weather this week.

Our friends in Stavanger moan how they are "relatively" snowless being on the coast in the South West and claim that it isn't much snowier than Highland Scotland. (He has worked over here in the oil industry.)

They are expecting some next week though. Interesting to hear how the weather is there this week.

Left Aberdeen in beautiful crisp sunshine and arrived in stavanger to dull and overcast conditions - but a pleasant 7 degrees according to the pilot on approach. Oslo will definitely be colder this week - hovering around freezing day and night.

-4C on the car thermometer this morning at 8am and stayed below freezing all the way to Westhill. Pretty much -1C all the way home except for the last mile or so where it dropped to - 2C. By the looks of the grass the thick frost from the morning hadn't really lifted, at least where it had been shaded.

Fine sunny cold day with a maximum of 5c.Frost lay behind dykes or any shaded areas all day. Fine weather to plough. Hoping to get most of it done this  week if weather allows. Ground still coming up very dry but with a few N or E winds we may get some snow to replenish ground water.

Another observation was the lack of contrails all day but maybe upper atmosphere is not conducive for them.

Currently 2c with extensive ground frost developing.

Amazing the difference in conditions over what is really quite a small distance.

The ground is still soaking wet here and our spring that dried up earlier in the year is gushing away.

I think you'd have a job not getting the tractor stuck if you tried to plough! Although in fairness the heavy glacial clay soil around us does hold the water.

West of Inverness is saturated and east of Elgin This bit in the middle is bone dry Will take cows and calves in this coming weekend mainly so bull can join the cows.  Usually have to take them in sooner as fields too wet. Great to have all the cow muck spread on the grass so late in the autumn hopefully less to empty from folds in spring. Calves looking very well no pneumonia issues when outside especially when its mostly dry but will be vaccinated for pneumonia when they come in.

Bit of cloud and mist about here this evening. Temps staying static between 2 and 3C since tea time. Looking like after an initial fairly mundane few days the first real cold blast will come from the North as the Greenie high builds strongly. Our friends in the North and North East should be best placed to benefit from any initial wintryness.

Fog started rolling in about 20 mins ago...

Sitting at 2c still and calm...Like November weather really .

Then boom 💥 December turns up a Volcano 🌋 a Full moon 🌝 and a block to the west that's bigger than the Saints Trophy cupboard...

Feels like 1984...   😉

Noticed that places that   are   below  us nearer  the sea are sitting at sub zero temperatures while we are at +2c

Must be a bit of an inversion going on.

That's it then... the pub run goes t#ts up and winter is officially over before it even began.. they never learn..😂😂.. does make me laugh when the so called big guns in the mad house are spouting off that they knew it knew it was gonna happen yet 6 hours previous they were waxing lyrical about how the next few weeks is nailed and they been saying it since September...😂😂😂

Now 0.8C and the car's covered in ice. But the (maybe) interesting observation was a medium-sized pale brown slug slowly trundling across the yard - how's he not frozen? It's been cold all day so he's had plenty of time to snuggle down into some corner, but no, he's off foraging. Hardier than I thought.
