Rain back into the north east around 9pm sleety stuff in the mix 4c roll on the weekend and the drier spell

Just looked up to the Velux window above me having read your post - covered in a good layer of wet snow. Definitely didn't expect that.

Today wasn't nearly as bad as expected after some heavy overnight rain. Cold and windy but dry with some decent sunny spells. Monday and Tuesday were pretty good and the forecast looks promising so can't really complain too much!

Suddenly looking like a risky night!  Sky clearing rapidly, calm, and already down from +12 max to +4.  Spud sacks fleeced, brassicas into tunnel, toms/chillis/lettuce/courgettes/melons etc. back into conservatory.  Over cautious?

And so it proved.......lowest at +0.3 before showery rain arrived, so no harm done.  Local Academy weather station looks u/s, but Eskdalemuir -0.7 and ground -2.  Thought I heard single thunder clap around 6am. Not confirmed by lightning hits, but reasonable shower on radar.

Another dull dreich cold day with a  fresh SE wind.  Mostly dry till late afternoon when we caught some very localised downpours which have been going on and off all evening. Seem to be inland only showers as coastal strip dry

Spring on hold again. Currently 7c

Using the sounding from Edinburgh Airport we see the instability increases from around 6pm through 3am which will spark the showers off which again could have thunder and with the dewpoint on the lower end some hail/wintry precip, that's a nice amount of CAPE for April and a decent LI value  ezgif-1-7673145e6e.gif

There will also be a convergence zone developing through Fife which moves northwest and has a linear shower train along it

Promising sunny start with light winds and just a few high altitude clouds - cold though, currently 3.9c and a ground frost overnight.

Next week looking hopeful, getting into double digit temperatures will be a win after the last few days.

Nice sunset yesterday after what was a cool grey day.

Quite a decent day here - cool breeze at times but dry all day and plenty of sunshine.

Some hefty looking showers over the western horizon but they thankfully stayed well away.

Clouds did bubble up here infact was watching Reporting Scotland and you could hear the rain bouncing on the roof funny enough during the weather report but other than a small burst of rain nothing here really despite some nice clouds

0c but fine sunny start to the day earlier. Almost the last air frost of the season?

Lovely yesterday here too, with today shaping up to be pretty decent as well after a cloudy start. Calm, mild with the sun currently burning through the cloud.

Got a bit sunburnt yesterday, managed to get the groundworks finished earlier this week so I spent the whole day raking and picking stones ready for grass seed. Could barely get out of bed this morning!

A bit duller today but we seem to have had the warmest night of spring so far last night with temperature near 10c all night resulting in a big change in the growth and colour of the grass.

A bit off topic but young Mr Northernlights watches a few North American farmers on Youtube  one in particular in Minnesota seems to be  having a never ending winter with a recent winter storm and a day time temperature a few days ago of 3F with metres of snow lying from the winter which they are concerned will cause a lot of flooding when it finally melts pushing back sowing season even later than it normally is in May into June

Got up to 13.8C here today, but with a sheet of high cloud keeping the sun under wraps it felt OK, but not particularly warm, especially in the breeze.

Stav on the EBC reporting max temp of 22.3 at Achnagart.   Of course sites which don’t report until tomorrow (Achfary?) may still exceed.  First 20 of year in UK, and looks like it will be warmest in UK for some time.

Wasn’t a great day initially but brightened up by about 5pm, felt warm in the milky sunshine at 16.3c despite the Grey skies to the North and East.

A lot of grey murk to start with, that clearing for a few hours mid-afternoon before returning with a vengeance this evening.

Very acceptably mild, with a max of 14.9c, currently 10c with calm conditions.

Seems to be a lot of temperature records falling around the globe in the last few weeks, in that context Aberdeenshire Permagloom™ does have its own attraction as even 25c is too hot...
