As above a lot of leaves being blown off. Wind getting stronger with some very severe gusts now. Currently 11c

Just odd bursts of light rain but other side of Firth loooks very wet .Hearing Kessock Bridge closed  to high sided vehicles. 

Electricity off for about 20 minutes but back on again

The dry slot did not make it across the Tay. Has remained wet and windy here throughout.

Rest centres Brechin Community Campus, Montrose Sports Centre, Forfar Community Campus. Further information will be on Angus Council's website and staff will be on the ground to provide information

SEPA  -"A SEVERE FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Brechin. This means that extensive flooding is expected in Brechin. River levels in the South Esk will rise throughout Thursday into Friday morning, and are predicted to peak higher than those experienced in November 2022.
There is a possibility that the defences may be overtopped on Thursday late evening.

The rain has definetly picked up since about 2pm here in Crieff, it was wet this morning but the wind was more of an issue. I've just been for a run in the heavy rain which was mad but great fun running through the surface water, I got a few strange looks though  A few of the burns look like they're about to burst already so it's easy to see why there will be issues tonight... and to be honest then again over the weekend and into next week!

Let's hope the next red warning is for snow

Bit wild out although the wind more of an issue than the rainfall here in Pittenweem.

Heavy driving rain here really setting in now, past 15mm winds violently gusting from SE but thanks to trees and polytunnel weather station not picking upthe higher gusts which I would guess around 60mph.  Large tree down on lower Lairg to Bonar road.  On roof window clearly see sleet in the torrential burst despite temperature hovering around 9C . Pigs went to bed at 230pm and not been seen since!

Now that is a classic rain shadow effect from a SE flow...

Horrible outside but so far the local streams have stayed within their banks.

See they have issued flood warnings for Kemnay and Inverurie with rest centres being opened up to accomodate people affected.

Stonehaven folk were queuing for sandbags at the council yard behind my office this morning with a steady flow of folk throughout the day. After hearing about downed trees on the Slug road, decided not to chance it and went home via the A90 and A93. Very strong gusts on A90 followed by quite a few large pools of water on A93.

My PWS is reporting 53mm of rain since 9am and tbh no idea what the wind speeds are as my station seems to record in a strange way and the Wunderground map is having issues so I can’t see what neighbouring stations are reporting.

The filling station next to our office closed at 4pm and it looked like the Morrisons in Banchory had also closed early but not 100% sure about that.  Wind is still howling loudly outside and there appears to be an abundance of leaves in the garden.

Parts of Glenesk (Angus) have had over 100mm in the 12hr to 8pm. With probably the same or more in the next 12 hours it will be problematic.

Yep the Howe of the Mearns are getting pasting this evening.  Clova, Tarfside etc will have over 100mm I'd say
