Deeply unpleasant out there.

Had to make a quick jaunt out to help a friend and the A944 around Sauchen/Dunecht is badly affected with surface flooding and branches galore on the road.

See the fields are starting to flood upstream of the bridge next to the junction to Sauchen so touch and go for the A944 to be flooded there in the morning (just as it was last November).

Just as well the weather apps are now firming up on a lengthy dry spell tomorrow before the next deluge on Saturday.

Wind here is mental and relentless at that, we moved our old parasol umbrella put it laying down and the gusts managed to lift and catapult it further up the garden

Sadly this was probably inevitable, sending prayers to her close friends and family plus those nearest rivers at full capacity 🙏

that is fascinating and bizarre in the garden... but worried the wife seemed so keen for you to stand on it and potentially disappear into a sink hole 🙂

seems windier here than at anytime just now but at least river levels in pkc have remained below danger levels apart from maybe Alyth viewing above.

Daylights starting to crack and the hard surfaces around the house are much drier than last night.

Wind has died down and it's dry. Dodged a bullet around here!

The local village to me has serious flooding. The Invergowrie burn usually under a foot deep has burst its banks through the village. The Kingsway A90 is closed due to flooding at its Western end. One of several videos on the local facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/zsofia.laszlo.54/videos/997081631401186/?idorvanity=745086948874058

Amazing the range of rainfall totals across relatively short distances in Fife (from the SEPA website). We've had 21mm in the last 36 hours (at St Monan's which is about a mile from me) but further down the coast at Kinghorn just 4mm. Strathkinnes, which is near St Andrews has had 54mm and then when you cross the Tay the numbers really ramp up. Highest I've seen is 177mm (Waterside Perth, NW of Edzell).

Aye  seeing some horrendous pictures. The Gelly and Dighty burns have burst their banks in the North of the city. Kirkton and Claverhouse looking especially bad.

New Red Warning all day Saturday in a more closely defined area of Stonehaven/Laurencekirk/Montrose and inland westward.

Another from Claverhouse! Basically anyone in this area living near a burn coming down from the Sidlaws is in deep trouble.  In the second pic from Invergowrie check out the depth on the shed. The last one is from people we know there.

We now have blue  skies and sunshine still with strong E wind blowing small showers along the coast which are of a very wintry looking cloud colour At 8c the mountain tops must be getting snow

Extraordinary weather !!

Fairly gusty around Airdrie today, especially compared to yesterday, with occasional showers, but nothing heavy or prolonged. Dog walk along the reservoir near Caldercruix this morning could be classed as 'bracing'.

Horrendous what Angus and parts of Dundee have been getting, and that new red warning for Saturday is worrying. Aberdeenshire seems to have largely faired ok so far it seems.

Forecast for SE Highlands today from mwis

Rain/flooding widespread, snow higher tops, particularly afternoon.

Almost constant precipitation, of snow highest tops from dawn, and by mid afternoon to 600 to 750m. Expect whiteout. The precipitation constantly heavy or torrential east of A9 (although less so Ochils), where flooding of water courses and paths very widespread.

Tomorrow

Snow over tops, most persistent east

East of the A9: Frequent or persistent rain, falling as snow above 700m; fresh accumulations over the Munros. Further west, patchier snow/rain. Rivers in spate; widespread flooding eastern mountain, centred Angus.

Just been for a wee stroll locally. Still showery but the persistent rain has been off since this morning and the local flooding has subsided a bit but the coastguard and police are still bringing people out of the lower part of the village by dingy. Feeling colder today in the still strong easterly winds. 6C currently.
