Yes, no snow in the Met Office forecast, but 3 stunning winter days coming up.

that is always the case.  It's been showers popping up left right and cantre all the last week, but as soon as the cold air gets here it's bone dry lmfao!!

Oh well, so long as we get some lovely hoar frosts, i'll be happy, and you never know, something may turn up, but if it's anything like 2010, it'll be a dud , snow wise

What a lovely winter's morning, it may not be snow, but the frost is very welcome!

First real winter post from me in here.

MInimum -1.1C at 07:00. Currently 0.3C. Frost not giving on the ground though.

Lovely crisp day with some scattered high clouds drifting towards the east.

Will they  turn to the north or northwest later on tonight?

Hopefully sees some first snow flakes in the next 24hrs...

Good luck to everyone.

Just gone past half 5 and already an air frost as temperature is now at -0.1⁰C

Friday morning looks interesting for a small sprinkling of snow, ARPEGE and AROME showing it.

A max of only 2-3 degrees today. I, like many would love to see some snow and it certainly would be a great shame for this cold spell to pass us by without any of the white stuff. At least were only a week into Winter, plenty of time to receive the goods!

dosen't look too promising, Cheshire streamer seems unlikely, winds too slack, next weeks lows certainly won't make it here

It would be cool to see something at some point. Can only hope a surprise or 2 will come about (maybe a possible chance of something early Friday as Metwatch mentioned).

Yes I’ve had my eyes on that as well, we may see a dusting on the ground as we wake up come Friday morning 🤞

Here at 9:30pm it’s -1.7c and it’s frosty white all over outside….Winter is finally here 😁

dry and cold dosen't really interest me though, any Atlantic attack well south of here, most effective setup for us is rime/hoar frost, Sat to mon, now that can look as good as snaw

We’ve many a day yet …if it’ll be further South or a direct hit…that argument is complicated but nothing is a given as yet…anyway for now,  it’s a hoar frost for us and the way day temps are forecasted to be, it’ll last throughout the day 🥶😁

Could very well do 🙂 Would take even just a dusting. I think as longs we’ve got the cold in place, a snow event has got to turn up and put a dent over our Midlands snow shield at some point.

But yep, a rime frost can still be nice, or just any frost (similar to today’s), as is better than nothing. Adds extra character to a Winter landscape.

23:00

Frost here, temp at -3.2C outside, with wet bulb at -8.0C

Scattered cloud in distance, but a really brilliant moon is lighting up the frost. .

Roll on the snow showers. We may get lucky with Cheshire gap streamers as the wind is tending towards the NW over the next couple of days.

Surprises could well crop up,,,,

Yes I’m thinking the same, if we can get that wind direction to a nw instead of straight north we could be in business, you don’t need a strong wind at all just a flow lol.
you never no we might get a few flakes blowing around tonight 🙄

Down to a nippy -4⁰C this morning, about 3⁰C lower than met office forecast.

I can imagine with snow cover that being at least a few degrees colder.
