Saw snow falling again today so thats 3 days in a row now . Unbelievable that I wait all winter for snow and it arrives spring . Bizarrely the previous time was in early November last year .

Frosty start but that ever increasing sun strength has pretty much melted it all.

Everything is bone dry... a smidge of rain overnight tonight but looks like another dry week.

Anyone wishing the cold weather to continue needs a serious think. Dry and cold this time of year is probably the worst combination for our farmers. Given that this year we are certainly going to face food shortages we need April showers and warm 10c days...

If you are worried about prices of food now give it a few months when we should have our first UK grown produce coming through and see the prices!

We import and grow a lot of plants (its our business) and the outdoor growers in mainland Europe are all saying the same thing thing its even colder there at the minute!

After an overnight minimum of -2C and a frosty start it's now a beautiful day to be out and about in the warm sunshine. Just a few fairweather clouds and aeroplane vapour trails to add interest to the sky:

nothing nice though unless it was close to sunset and the clouds would be bright orange or red, but besides that is very boring looking.

I don't mind it too much, at least there's some sort of pattern to the clouds

Basically April showers. My gas is now more than ready for a warm up, but looks like getting chilly again later in the week. God knows how I'll heat the house next winter. It's freezing now.

Soundings continue to indicate CAPE around our area tomorrow to be the highest we've had in recent times as far as I know (not hard to beat though). Models cannot agree what will happen though. We might see a squall line come through the region, that does seem likely. Although, we might also not at the same time. That mainly seems to have to do with the lapse-rates and if the ICON is right on that then it doesn't matter unless CAPE gets into high levels and it 99% won't so that's the trouble but lapse-rates have seemed difficult to forecast recently.

Quite a lot over East Anglia, I think I see the AROME putting 600 J/KG in at least one place there.

Low level shear does seem quite strong, potential for a funnel or two I think.

Seen this with a few Pivotal Weather soundings before, seems to always have some analogue for supercells or tornadoes from any puny sounding like that!

Today's weather

20220405_171556284.thumb.jpg.28659ca27eecdeb5c56a0291039bd2d9.jpg

The MJO looks to be returning to normal soon and that's starting to come into the models with ringing building up (although around the dreaded day 10). I think this year we will see a plume from this type of setup around mid May and I hope that it continues to be a good year for plumes later on (don't blame me though, I like a good few days heat followed by thunderstorms)

It would have been quicker to send these by carrier pigeon - several days absence due to work pressures and over long working hours   Sunday morning frost n shade patterns and Sunday sunset.

Sunday morning frost patterns followed an overnight low of -2.8°C then a mainly sunny day and pretty sunset.   Have absolutely no recollection of yesterday's weather though, except weather station recorded a top temp of 14.4°C .   Today has been dull and cloudy with a maximum temp of 14.3°C at 16:00 after an overnight low of 11.1°C .  Currently 10.6°C  with 75% humidity.  Wind from a WNW direction and 9mph.  Pressure is 1005.0hPa steady.

Capel is good, also Lydon, both near Dover, capel is near Folkestone too.  Walking distance to Folkstone. There's also Whitfield, the village, it's away from the main bit of Whitfield. Think it's called something like Whitfield church, or something, need to look it up, as remembering from a journey home, in hospital transport around there.

Right like other.people (alex)have said.,depending.on your weather preference ,by what you have said ,give kent a wide berth ,what ever is.excitng here other places have it three fold better or more frequent ,I've lived all around kent all my life ,couple of times I've been stunned ,87 both of them ,if  weather extremes.is your scene.don't bother ,chances of getting up high to see snow is pointless ,in this world kent is placid and mellow ,if diddly  happens I(weather wise ) then  tonbrige will float your boat
