Up to 38c now . Seems a bit high . Obviously the extreme end of the forecast.

Good morning;

Some mist to start across parts of East Anglia (Quite cool in places too). This will quickly burn off to leave a clear and sunny day.
Temperatures

image.thumb.gif.86ecc4058fede4aeb8dbb950e98529cd.gif

30-32c, possibly 33c in a couple of spots.

Winds will be generally from the east and light in strength, veering south east at times further west.

Glad to see that the Mid Norfolk railway has cancelled its steam train timetable for this weekend, especially after the hoo hah we had a few years ago when hot ash ignited the bank next to our farm buildings (and we had £1000 worth of hay within yards of the blaze). The MNR got a right ticking off from the Fire Brigade for not having any fire fighting equipment in their railway crossing shed.

That was a hot and sticky walk around central London. The type where you're seeking out any kind of shade, filling up with water every 10 minutes and wondering why anyone would choose to eat and drink outside next to a busy road rather than indoors under air conditioning.

Super clear blue skies back home in Surbiton where we have every possible window and glass door covered.

The local pond has dried out even more with rats scurrying around over cracked mud where ducks used to paddle.

29.6 here in N12 at 3pm, I expect 30c to be exceeded at some point in the next 90-120mins but not guaranteed

As this done of heat builds I’d expect it to be above 30c same time tomorrow

A minimum temperature of 16.1C overnight and so far today has reached 31.6C at 13.45. It's dropped back slightly now, to 31.2C at 15.00 which I suspect is down to the 15mph easterly breeze off the North Sea holding the temperature steady. (My location approx. 20 miles from the coast).

The temperature graph for today shows what a short time-slot of bearable temperatures (for outdoor activities) there was before the thermometer hit 28C just before 10.00.

It took 65mins (1605) to reach 30c and now at 1630 it’s 30.2, the peak should be within the next 30mins I’d guess

Humidity 34%

it’s hot but not oppressive

- that was the peak, it now 29.8 at 1725

There was some shallow fog on the way to work, but that was quickly gone with another clear and sunny day.

A high of 31c in Peterborough, slightly cooler than down the road where 90f was reached.

It hit 30c at 1pm then dropped off quickly as the breeze switched round to more of a south easterly. This also happened at shoreham airport.

It has actually gone up to 29c as of now, usually happens In the early evening.

Today's high reached 33.2°C  at 17:30.  Currently 28.7°C  with 39% humidity.  From an Easterly direction, average wind speed is 1.9mph and not much help .  Pressure currently 1019.7hPa steady.   Think sleeping may be difficult tonight as bedrooms are very hot.

It's currently down to a bone-chilling 21C over here just now, SH. And, now, I'm waiting for a stonking full-moon to rise!👍!

Supply of lettuce and strawberries could also be impacted as farmers experience 'unprecedented' hot and dry weather

Excellent photo Iceman..

I've taken one on my mobile phone tonight through the dried up leaves of our apple tree... not as much detail in the moon as your..  but the weird reflection from the pond through some glass windchimes worked for me whilst being bitten by small flying creatures with pointy teeth 🙂...

oh for some proper rain - the garden is dying

Good morning;

There is a little low cloud and fog towards the Wash and North Norfolk, this will burn back quickly to leave a sunny day for all.

30-33c, to tie into the BBC forecasts I wouldn’t rule out a 34c towards somewhere like Heathrow.
