Bexhill just had Beautiful skies, interesting motion within the clouds, lots of distant thunder, one visible CG and some CC in the distance over the channel, huge connective drops, soaked within seconds!

A close call but again the Bexhill storm bubble held and we missed a direct hit.  BC00CDA6-F6E1-482D-AF32-F279F2F641ED.thumb.jpeg.6eda634908f3941335a7c6c6c91e5b90.jpeg1492DE07-A373-4FAA-9705-8F8F8F76E87D.thumb.jpeg.6e30e6ea09ba9a749729e77777de9345.jpegD9726A5B-3ECD-4813-9FAC-6FCFC16F28F3.thumb.jpeg.91307acf5599f8dfe6c0b924b19ddf6d.jpegDAB53AFF-02A9-44E9-AF52-0340046B473C.thumb.jpeg.f219312a4d3375c3b7ade87d331192ed.jpegC066DCE1-5DE6-4FCB-B408-FB0A0D137760.thumb.jpeg.3b33a63255e9854cd2650bd433a7b366.jpeg

Great shots. I am having cloud envy 😍 But at least our garden has just had it's first 20 min downpour since I can remember.  🌱

Storm has arrived here, torrential rain streaming down the road as well.

Flooding rains in central London. As a rough estimate, my empty plant pots outside now have about 2 inches of water in them just from the last hour ☔

Plenty of thunder & lightening too. What an abrupt end to the long dry spell!

Still dull and windy, no sign of rain. This latest hot spell can't even go out with a whimper, never mind a bang.

We've had showers furthur east.  I was in Attleborough earlier, and there was a hefty downpour as I left.

Palmers green right under the red band on radar. As it inches west, more seems to form to SE side to take its place Thunder again now, third wave. 33mm since 3pm.

Very lucky then.  There's a sizeable chunk of Norfolk that hasn't seen anything.

Disappointed with the thunder, 1 very distant rumble, but I'm very happy with the rain, more of that please

Some lovely clouds, and puddles lol,  I'd forgotten what they looked like

Hi. I'm new here. I've had a growing interest in weather and weather patterns over the past few years and I've been doing a bit of reading and self-educating to learn more. It's been interesting reading everyone's comments about our recent round of storms.

I live in sunny Slough - as in always sunny. Other than one or two insignificant 5 minute rain showers, we haven't had any rain since late May or early June. Yesterday I watched the storms bypass us in a thin corridor of clear skies while it rained to the south and north just a couple of miles away. Even now, the radar shows possible rain building up over Uxbridge, Maidenhead and Ascot, and there is definitely something going on in Reading - but there is a big clear bubble over Slough.

Anyway, I'm going to go back to 'lurk' mode for now until I learn more - but just wanted to say 'hi'!

Well follow that thin corridor not the storm one the dry sunny one next door to it  and I'll be the other end of it lol (don't expect an oasis though ..we are  on rationing )..jacko this morning Jacko this afternoon..Nixie tonight by our form

Lots of rain resulting in puddles and wet feet.

would have loved a closer hit though, that’s twice in the last two days a fab storm has been just put of reach but close enough to tease.

need to work on teleporting skills

The amber warning should have been moved NE, rain constantly for almost 3 hours here, bone dry ground. No thunder but what a relief this weather is, cool and comfortable.

Nothing at all in Attleborough, only parts of Norfolk that have seen any measurable rainfall was NW Norfolk that had well over 60mm, and an isolated storm just off the coast of Yarmouth yesterday…I have recorded 0mm

Evening all,

Hoe I find yourselves and your Families, and havn't been adversely affected by flash flooding that occurred, in some parts of our Region, Today.

I hope Russell Peacock of Palmers Green isn't offended, by borrowing his Radar grab from earlier this Afternoon, to demonstrate how relatively local, these torrential downpours were.

If you zoom in on Russell's map, my home location of Lee, lies roughly between the M of Lewisham and the D of Catford.

image.png.d5d329110595e8170f2d2bd8876c768e.png

As the crow flies, we are around 10 Miles S.E. of King's Cross, from where the majority of these images, are of.

They are screengrabs taken from a news report, by ITN London Weather Girl, Sally Williams.

Below, Sally Williams looking a bit bemused by the amount of flooding that occurred at King's Cross:

 20220817_185100.thumb.jpg.e394d0dafe3a711f46e69c1669bc84dc.jpg

Apologies to Ms Williams, this isn't meant to be a gratuitous shot of her rear but to demonstrate

the amount of floodwater that spilled onto the pavements, at Kings Cross:

20220817_185134.thumb.jpg.cc1689f9ac8a5b3c93d45f65f8a3ad42.jpg

I think this image is of a Shop Owner in King's Cross, struggling to sweep floodwater down a drain.

20220817_185310.thumb.jpg.4b1990dc7a50462663814a3c7f4d973a.jpg  20220817_185231.thumb.jpg.25da9cd9c1f2edd04e1e8aba24252118.jpg

And this is an image of flooding on a section of the M25, not sure where though.

20220817_185422.thumb.jpg.4696ad988220dcee4e633a793652549d.jpg

Evidently some parts of that area of London, received a Month's Rainfall in three hours.

Here in Lee, we had barely enough Rain, to wet the ground and that was probably at the time I heard the faintest of rumbles Thunder. Which was around time that my neighbour to the East of me at Bexleyheath, Leeanne [Snow Raven], reported on hearing Thunder also.

Below, are recent observations taken at my nearest recording Station - London City Airport.

TEMP -20c. DEW POINT - 18C. RELATIVE HUMIDITY - 88%.

image.thumb.png.b25437ef96ae96e8ecf9ed3c84d26ce4.png

Still pretty humid here then and myself and my Wife will no doubt need two of our three Bedroom fans operating, overnight but at least this interminable heat and now accompanied by high humidity, is finally on it's last legs!!

I'd like to thank Russell Peacock for the timely appearance of his Radar grab. 👍

I for one, hope that we don't see anything like these excessive temperatures, for at least another 10 Months.

Regards,

Tom Q. 👍 😓
