The snow is frozen so hard here now it’s crispy and makes a crunching noise when you walk on it, still very pretty though - this evening it was the annual Christmas streets visit to see all the lights  🎄

So not programmed to hit us in the South East.

Precipitation on both models goes South

Having said that the radar has precipitation hitting Cardiff and the models had it missing a little South.

Nothing for us tonight ( reverse psychology ) but no in reality the precipitation showing on the charts in the south west is giving minimal precipitation. Give up the ghost on that one I would suggest.

Agreed - if you get anything it will be a few flakes for a short time.  Precipitation out West doesn't really look strong enough to reach the SE.

A good day today for the cold spell. Last night I expressed concerns that we'll have a night of thick cloud and 0°c followed by a partly sunny day which would ruin the snow. Thankfully it cleared and temps plummeted down to -7°c before cloud rolled in shortly after sunrise with a max of 0°c. Yesterday saw a slight melt but today nothing melted, including snow stuck on walls or car windows. So Thankfully I was wrong!

Thought I was going to have an ice day today but the temp crept above freezing, 0.1 to be exact for literally half an hour this afternoon!

You say that, and the first wave has gone south or fizzled out, but what is happening to that aftercoming mass? It has slammed into Le Havre, but it is broad and working its way north. Could contain: Plot, Chart, Map, Atlas, Diagram

None of the models show any kind of pivot to the north (unlike Sunday's event).  It seems to pass through the channel and fade south.  Not that models are gospel of course but it would be a surprise if the SE was to catch anything other than very fleeting light snow showers at best.

Yeah I expect we will see snow showers across most the south east over the next 9-12 hours with it being more North than modelled, but likely not very heavy so likely won't settle much or make much difference to ground snow levels.

Intensity of returns could be partially caused by bright banding? Not often you see such reflectivity values with snowfall unless it's convective in nature...

The radar is wrong it’s got snow over Worthing, nothing is falling from the sky

The radar doesn't say what's actually falling.

I sat all day under pink a few yrs back and it was because the dew points were so low it was too dry.

Nothing was making land fall.

More showers bubbling up over the south east over Clacton area..
