A complete write off it seems for most of us.

shame would have liked one last gasp of winter.

So much rain, the word marginal feels a tad generous!

My app just changed from rain to snow at 9am.

I am thinking big fat no to that.

But may be surprised...

The no snow warning was correct for here. Fortunately I'm north of the warning area for tomorrow so shouldn't have to worry about experiencing several cms of no snow again. Then looking at the models shouldn't have to worry about any more no snow until maybe Saturday.

The 12Z still fancies a load of snow this afternoon into tonight, I am going to call it now, nothing.

Bring on the warm!

Never was likely to see settling snow today, even the global models gad very little, the high resolution models all had basically Nada.

I still suspect tonight will be good for the southern part of this region, more so the further SW you head.

I used to live in Hemel, not too far from there. Used to love going up there. Looks stunning in the snow.

Snowing here at the moment in Caterham-on-the-hill at 190m asl, nice chunky flakes, no settling as too wet.

Hi Nick, that little bit of elevation obviously helps. Here the rain has stopped and that’s about it. We’ve had 8mm since midnight so things are a little soggy in places.

Just had the wettest of wet flakes for around 3 minutes (more sleet than snow probably)

No sleet let alone snow here and surprisingly very very calm without a breath of wind. Although expecting very little if anything from this cold snap as my location is too far NE for anything off the Atlantic and too far SE for anything from showers off the North Sea. Be interesting to see if those further south get settling snow from this. Might get a decent frost tonight though! 😂

Big upgrade folks on the MO warnings, especially Wed evening/night.

Now I’m interested!

I know I said I would be looking at the met office forecasts to try and get the best idea of what will happen this week, but I'm really struggling to see this happening.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Staying cold with frosts overnight. Risk of disruptive snow and strong winds to occur on Thursday and Friday. Saturday daytime looking drier and brighter.

Updated: 04:00 (UTC) on Tue 7 Mar 2023

This is from my regional forecast, east of England but the south east England one is similar.

Has anyone noticed that when it snows in march the snowflakes are absaloutly huge!

In past yrs I have observed how big they are.

Wonder why?

Is it to do with warmer temperatures?

I think its to do with dew points, seem to recall asking many years ago and someone in here said the dew point relates to size of flakes.

Oh no! Now I'm just inside the northern limit of the warning. It's the hope that kills you.
