Even a little bit of altitude makes a difference 😉

I am not certain of my altitude but yes my location being far enough away from coast, far enough away from heat of urban London. Does often do quite well from snow from this direction.

Slight dusting on rooves, grass and cars. Snowing lightly ATM. Automated met office forecast going for mostly rain and sleet today even this evening when it was showing a period of heavy snow yesterday.

Every time I look at the snow charts posted and think wow that looks amazing and every time the reality is considerably less amazing.

Really snowy up on top of the North Downs. Our elevation really helps!

Yes it looks that way now wrong side of marginal!Amazing less than 12 hours ago models were showing this part of Kent as heavy snow from 5-10pm,now they are showing rain and sleet!

currently exactly zero and temperature rising and snow now stopped

I guess it will be a now cast! Especially as models are all over the shop. Never know

A smattering on the ground, that's putting it mildly. Still, I wasn't expecting anything

So continuing into London and a rapid thaw of the coating in Chelmsford but a decent 2 to 3 cms in Ingatestone and Brentwood and by far the best covering seen on my way to London

Measured about 7-8cm / 3 inches about half hour ago, just found out son's school closed, so will likely go sledging before it all melts.

Lovely what the altitude gives you in terms of depth - maybe an inch here in Reigate!

Question for the bright sparks please; we have a brisk wind at the moment 10 to 12 mph which is giving decent wind chill - but it's coming from the east! How is that possible?

@Snowangel-MK have you got your snow boots out yet 😄

Not yet but hopefully later ⛄

it’s been snowing for hours here but it’s tiny flakes so not much to show for it but I wasn’t expecting anything until later so just seeing flakes falling in daylight is a bonus!

Morning all

Quite happy when I woke up about an hour ago to heavy snow falling! Decent amount here maybe 2cm which is good considering it could of been nothing!

I am glad that most have seen something 😊

Unfortunately it will all be gone by this time tomorrow morning and we will be back to heavy rain lol

Snowing heavy now in Benfleet, starting to lay on paths. Roofs and grass already covered. Any signs of transition in southend?

Very briefly when it got heavier, now back to light rain.  Need a full on easterly here for the estaury to be our friend.

Looking like the western North Downs was the sweet spot last night (North Surrey & parts of Kent)

Had around 3cm here near Maidstone but it is already melting both seemingly from above but also from relatively warm ground underneath. This'll be gone by lunchtime but always good to see snow 🙂

Well this has been disappointing. Woke up expecting the sky to be that weird orange colour you get at night. Nope. As predicted, nothing here just outside Colchester.

Getting snow in Stanway?

Might be a chance rain turning to snow Friday but nothing of note as the rain later today, Thursday and Friday morning will soak the ground.

Have a covering here but sounds like it's already melting and doesn't seem to be causing too much of a problem.

If anyone is planning on travelling up to London on the Hastings-Charing Cross line this morning, there are currently no trains due to a tree on the line. Still snowing lightly here in TW - sad to think there is rain on the way soon. But a big surprise in March to wake up to quite a bit of settling snow

Interesting journey into London from the often weather fringe town of St Neots I live in, going from the lightest of all dustings to progressively whiter and whiter fields, Looking decent at Stevenage now.  I'm expecting 2 foot in Central London then...
