Some very heavy snow in Oxford now, just a shame the ground is so wet, maybe it will settle soon...

Still relatively sleety here in Wallingford, but seeing many more proper large white flakes.

Drizzly and windy here now, but still a bit of snow left. Met Office says rain all day tomorrow, with thunderstorm at about mid-day. What a change between the two days! We need the rain though, as it has been so dry lately.

All rain with a rare bit of sleet. I hate battleground chances. They are either incredibly short lived or don't come off. The mild air just wins so close to the channel. Roll on spring! Lol

Rained all day and not even sleet. To think I have spent the best part of a month chasing cold rain!,,,,

Absolutely horrid out there now, still feels freezing cold and raining, I'm honestly looking forward to the 10c forecast tomorrow.

Cloud base now streaming in from the east. Flakes blowing in the wind but nothing worthwhile!

Forecast for the next 24/48 hours is really tricky. Radar is changing hour to hour.

Window watch is prob the best option I’m thinking 🙂

Still quite a bit of lying snow, foggy and drizzling, temperature 0.6c don't think we will get anymore but won't stop me lamp post watching!

Most snow for at least 4 years

Decent amount of snow early this morning, but soon disappeared, maybe more heading our way next week.

A welcomed amount of rain today, the water butts filling nicely, currently 17.4mm since midnight. Looking as though there another downpour on the way for around 9pm..

Could contain: Chart, Plot, Map, Atlas, Diagram

Meanwhile temperatures have fallen back from the peak earlier of 4.7°C at: 16:33, currently 3.3°C

All went pretty much as I  expected for Dorset today with only the northern higher ground getting much in the way of worthwhile snow.

If you want settling lowland/coastal snow in Dorset at this time of year especially from a sliding low pressure system it needs to be sliding into a genuinely entrenched cold block and preferably one with Continental Arctic source from some way east.  A la 2018

Not just a cold air block that arrived from the north barely 24 hours before. There are just too many variables that have to fall into place for lowland snow in Dorset when you don't have a very cold and dry continental feed to draw on that's why there's been so much talk about wet bulb temps and dewpoints in the MOD thread over recent days. With a genuine dry Continental cold feed those variable are much more likely to fall the right side of the equation for lowland Dorset.

Well it's all rain now, but easily the best snow event since February 2019 here.

When winter can't deliver, spring does!

Just wondering if we can sneak some more snow this evening. The temperature is still only 0.8c and melt is ongoing, however that looks a very heavy batch of precipitation moving in from the SW.

Imagine if all that precipitation on radar now was snow?

I’m watching that closely, another few cm before it clears would be nice

Toasty in Plymouth today, a balmy 11 degrees. Wet and breezy though!

A case of if only for south and west Devon and Cornwall. Fascinating to see the contrast in temperature further north and east where the cold air dug in.

From the BBC News website earlier, Glastonbury Tor this morning…. Proof that elevation is sometimes essential for snow!
