Who the bloody hell are the resilience forum?! They sound very made up to me!

Most likely an Emergency planning group who convene in times of emergency and have been given some fluffy title. Most likely consisting of people from each of the departments list at the bottom of the article.

Just had an email to say Sparsholt College is closed tomorrow.

More to do with students travelling in from the South, rather than the site itself.

Schools in Gosport and the southern part (at least) of Fareham are all closed tomorrow due to the Amber. Even the secondary schools.

Back in my day, we were made of stronger stuff! 😄

Rain is the main problem here, the wind isn't particularly notable when comparing to current forecasts.

The rain has been very heavy here over the last few hours. Coupled with the very heavy showers earlier today, this has given us 30.0mm of rain so far today.

Pressure is also the lowest it has been in the nearly 4 years I have been recording at this house, currently 966.5mb and falling

The winds here, don’t seem to have been as severe as I thought they were going to be.  I thought the winds were going to be at their most severe during the early hours. but when I’ve looked at the radar and the low pressure system, I think we are in the lull area of the low pressure currently I have a feeling the wind could pick up again during daylight hours later this morning as it looks quite slow moving.

stay safe everyone as it looks like it could be quite bad as  all the outlets have alluded to previously.

First phase passed through ok here.
Noisy wind, thundery showers.
Highest gust was 38mph at 1:05 am.
Gust were pretty constant from 10pm to 4am, 25-32mph.
Rain total yesterday was 16mm and 11mm since midnight.

Calm at the moment.
Second phase in an hour or so, has us under an amber warning, forecasts showing 42-50mph gusts.

Still falling, 954 hPa, was around 970 at midnight.

Incredible rain with thunder at times overnight. Close to the centre of the low now, so waiting for the change of direction and increase in wind speeds.

It’ll get to you soon, NW’ly just beginning with rain after a dry period.

Don’t know if anything thundery happened here.

Yeah, I'll be walking in full wets in a bit. I can see the clouds on the horizon now moving from North to South.

We heard 2 big booms of thunder at different times, but tbf I slept really well with a pillow on my head.

The amber wind warning has been dropped now for us, just a yellow.
Forecasts also showing a little downgrade in last hour, on wind speeds and highest gusts to early 40s.

Wind has picked up W 20 mph.
Light grey skies, no rain, but feels as if that is just about to arrive from West.

Absolutely spot on, I was thinking that and even now there’s hardly any wind out there.

Wasn't too wet walking, but the traffic on The Borough in Downton was stacked due to the road flooding from the overnight rain.

Wind has picked up a bit from the calm first thing.

Wind has picked up here now.  Just watched a Robin try and land on bird feeder after 3 attempts he gave up and picked up bits that having blown onto the ground.

Morning All, I trust we are all safe and sound, possibly a tad bit soggy possibly. The overnight low of 8.6°C at: 00:01 has struggled up to 9.8°C, RH94% with a 10mph breeze in from the WSW.

On Golden sands, a highwater line this morning, but it seems the benches belonging to the pub are still there this morning.

Clearly needs lessons from a pilot on how to land in strong crosswinds!

Me neither, I can well imagine it was up to the sea wall there last night. It looks as though it was nearly up to the sea wall under Bmth pier too, looking at the seaweed line.

I take it the little black dots in the sea are surfers 🙂

Yes correct, I suspect they may struggle and need to leave the surf as the wind speed is increasing and becoming a stronger offshore breeze.
