Hiya, @jethro good to see you back for the season, trust you are keeping well.

Fair to middling my dear, how's you? Life all good I hope.

I'm still bogged down in major house renovations but at least the downstairs is now down, made it as far as the landing so only bedrooms &  bathrooms to go. Then the outside fun starts....I did make a start on turning the old farmyard into a garden but got side tracked down an archaeology road. Long story short, the small part I've dug has turned up part of a roman brooch and over 1000 pieces of pottery dated 9th-14th century, plus Iron Age bits. Current archaeological theory is the house has Saxon foundations, thoughts are the current house dates early 15thc. Got to do a proper time team dig before the garden makeover can go ahead.

Ha ha like a moth to a flame I can't keep away. I should know better as the apps continue to play havoc. From a day of light snow to a damp squib 😄😄

I can't believe people waste their time looking at these things let alone trusting them!!

Looking at the radar compared to a few hours ago, the poss snow scenario for some in this region has definitely ‘gone south’ !

I was just looking at that myself. Radar has it right out in the channel .

There’s a little streamer thing on the radar that looked interesting near the Bristol Channel that has some heavy precip in it. But it’s moving west!

Afternoon all, as it's now officially blinking cold out thought it was about time to check in for the season. Apologies to all you regulars for trespassing in your space, can't help myself, merest whiff of a snowflake, I'm instantly 7 again and this is the best place ever for mutual excitement/wishful thinking/commiserating.

Locals round here are reporting the goats have come down off the top of the hills and are wandering around Cheddar Gorge, apparently a guaranteed sign of cold weather setting in. Can't personally verify this as in the two years we've lived here, I've only seen 29 snowflakes. Coming home today about 4pm it was 2c on top of the Mendips, 4c down here in the Cheddar Valley. Not holding my breath for the 30th snowflake to appear but the hills are literally at the end of my street, a short walk to snowy hilltops.

Good evening Jethro,

I've moved back to shepton mallet around 140m so slightly more hope but I can walk up long hill myself too.

Local weather shows showers widely but hit and miss.

Good evening all!

Like many others, a sniff of snow and cold has dragged me back, hope everyone is doing well.

Always find these set ups interesting, even if we end up disappointed!

My straw I’m going to be clutching for today/tomorrow is the temperatures. Currently, met office say 4C for 9pm. Wunderground shows somewhere between 0C-2C being the reality.

Here’s hoping for some surprise dustings tomorrow!

Same here, I'm worried the low is slightly further South, hoping it's nothing though

Good luck FK

Still on the actual northern edge of extent.  I'd feel more comfortable if it was 10-20 miles further north 😬

Yes, I’m hoping that the reason it is colder, isn’t purely down to the low being further south and us therefore holding onto colder temperatures!

On that note - Now looks a solid 0C on all stations…. 4C on the met office forecast for now!!

How is everyone else doing for current temps vs forecast?

Temp has dropped like a stone in the last hour. Below freezing now with a starry sky.

Clouding over here now. Temp 0.5°C. Maybe wishful thinking but the precipitation seems to be making some northward progress now.

A few small flakes blowing around in the wind here. I can see them on my garden security camera, with the infrared light on.
