@lettice - 31 at 11:50 Southampton Airport, it's now reached 31 here but I'm a lot nearer Soton than you obviously. Feels like Majorca outside lol.

Temp 29.3C in the back garden now. Slight breeze at times which, although warm, is quite welcome.

33c and still rising  MetO have been spot on so far, going for a peak of 35 in the next couple of hours. That would mean we are one place where the record won't fall!

Went for a run at about 1030 and it wasn't too bad - mid twenties and a nice breeze off the Bristol Channel. Seemed to be touching around 30 as I came in around lunchtime. Last week they were forecasting 37 or 38 for around here today but it doesn't have that feel to it at all.

Cloud cover has topped us out at 31.9c so far. Can't see us touching 35 let alone anywhere near 40 like this

A lot of cloud cover today , but don’t think it will get up to at one stage 38 to 39 Mark that they were speaking of.

Currently humid and 34

I’m about to get peed off as the sun has gone behind some quite extensive midlevel cloud here. Better not scupper a record!

Morning all. Thought I would join in what should be a record breaker...for my own station at least!

Previous max was 34.3 in August 2020. Already above 30C!

I've moved just over a tonne of soil by hand. Time to hose myself down, literally! 🔆

It happened between Trowbridge and Westbury around 10.30 too.

33.4c and rising. But not even feeling sticky due to low humidity/dry heat.

Reached 30°C here not long ago, first time since August 2020 and one of only a handful of occasions in the last 6 years that I've lived here. Currently 30.7°C

Anyone know why the Met Office are predicting 41 degrees as a possibility for the UK, when the highest temperature ever is quite a bit below that (38.7)? Is there some unique set of conditions at play? Bristol was forecast by some to be 37-38 degrees today but is actually around 34 degrees (probably close to beating the 2003 record).
