Starting to get pretty wild here in West Oxfordshire! Probably have a sustained wind speed of 25-30 with 45 gusts.

Probably busier than usual today.

I suspect so but they are made to be able to carry a lot these days, then again mobile data was down in Woodchurch last week.

Interesting looking at the computer generated 1000Z chart for the UK.

The centre is shown-split- and the largest falls are ahead of the northern centre. This will have the effect, I think, of pulling the centre to be off the NE coast of England in the next 2-3 hours. This is where the Met O Fax had it 24 or more hours ago. Just what this effect will have on the strongest winds for areas away from the SW is not too clear just at the moment.

Not taking any chances being on the edge of the red warning. Cambourne is notable for being windy.

Just sacrificed a garden bench to support the wobbly fence.

Looks like a worthy sacrifice.

Odd thing is I'm supposed to be helping erect a fence this afternoon.

I'm afraid you are not only misleading. You have willed this to be a pooh-pooh from the very moment you claimed it would be nothing but a slight breeze. The evidence unfolding throughout Cornwall - empirical windspeed data - proves you to be a liar.

I thought it had died down in Pembrokeshire, it most certainly has not, it’s really really bad here now.

That live steam from Heathrow is absolutely insane! Some of the landings are sketchy as hell to watch!

I didn't think my garden weather station could record gusts of much more that 23.5mph - just had a 34.4mph - excited! The Cumulus software gauge has updated to show a max of 40mph - I had no idea it did that - let's see if we can push that to 50 before the storm is over!

I feel like I've been very fortunate and missed out on most of the crazy winds / damage.

Bude is taking a battering. This is exactly why the danger to life warnings were warranted. Getting hit by some of this debris could end your life:

To those giving the whole "what a let down, it was exaggerated, what storm?" nonsense - just stop.

Exactly. I've seen videos of massive trees coming down and structural damage like this one. And still people posting crap about "it's not as bad" or "just a bit of wind"

Agreed. Although the guy hyperventilating like an F5 tornado had ripped through is funny as hell.

I'm sure it's quite bad in certain parts of the country but where I am it absolutely hasn't,  it's just breezy here with the odd stronger gust!

As a lover of extreme weather it's been quite a disappointment to me and I'm in Sth Wales.
