Still gusty, some close trees down. It has now started with Hail, will be painful in these winds.

It has calmed a little in Farnborough, but still very strong gusts every 15 mins or so.   I have an anemometer which recorded a gust of 89mph earlier but it's only 3m above the eaves so it may have been accelerated a bit.

Maybe this is better off in the models thread but is the GFS on to something here (28th February - I know it’s 10 days away….)

Might not be the last blowy day we get this winter…?

Rough on the coast in bexhill, wind took a chunk out of our beautiful bandstand at the de la warr pavilion, trees down, roof tiles flying in the main shopping street, structural damage to the odd building, and… a Christmas tree on the beach

Same here @Snow Queen one - gusts seem to be coming thick and fast (more so than earlier). A gust just hit that made me wince as it sounded like the patio doors were going to blow in.

The winds have picked up significantly here in the last 15 minutes. Feels like it did around midday again and seeing more damage occurring. What's going on?

Local building has lost parts of its roof.

Sea spray earlier along the sea here in Herne Bay. The bandstand had recorded 74 mph just before I started recording.

Don't have any video but damn near got thrown to the ground on the road just behind the pier on St George's Terrace. Must be a wind tunnel!

Here is a useful link for you DD
I have it set to the Icon model , you can change to ECMWF / GFS etc , down in the tool bar bottom right corner

Drag the timeline at the bottom to the start and hit the play button

That’s great! Thanks for that!

I'm there too. We have over 6 trees down on the roads around our house..  and 2 in our garden

Wind has picked up here, was watching the GB girls curling and noticed the temporary ridge of my conservatory fly past the window, just got back in after doing a water tight repair. It’s wild up there and out there.

Relatively significant event IMBY. Barton Rovers FC have lost a little stand that would have taken some knocking over. That's about 10 miles to my south. Still some significant gusts out there. Squally showers too

So, definite impacts but, equally, not quite the event that some models thought it might have been. Seems to me that the worst effects were on the south coast and around the M4 corridor

Looking forward, I wonder if we'll have some more days like this in the next fortnight or so. It looks unsettled and turbulent until at least the end of the month. In the past week or so, though, we have seen the other, angry face of what has been, basically, an extended autumn since August... after we experienced the dull, benign side last month

Yep that's why I'm not hearing gusts, but still occasional very heavy one comes along. Confused to be honest, I wonder what the sustained speed is at the moment.

I went to school at St Marys in West Croydon and I remember struggling to walk down Wellesley road to the bus stop during the Burns day storm.. I was only a skinny kid but I managed to make it onto the bus. They had let us go home early that day. I remember looking up and being amazed how fast the clouds were moving.

Btw, my lights has just started flickering

One of my daughters lives in Amsterdam and they are under a red warning. All the city closed down at 3pm.

Amsterdam is being pummelled, very dangerous winds there, mean speeds of over 50mph! Hope your daughter is ok
