Wow bright flashes and loud here, suddenly!

That was the one I saw and heard just outside of Eastbourne!

Was definitely definitely towards your vicinity. Looks very moody towards Seaford right now!

Is it me or has the mcs gained in intensity over last couple of radar frames?

On radar in the central channel you can see the shallower cells moving more NE, while the bigger storms are moving more directly north!

More lightning now between hailsham and heathfield now as a rough guess. Can see everything from up here at around 650ft above sea level! Could do with it being a bit closer really!

Three cells headed for the Island. Off to my cliff-top vantage point near Freshwater Bay! Hope they maintain their strength.

Good luck anything heading towards lyme bay or is it Bournemouth area or east

OOO! It looks like the Eastern storm has died but that storm I circled is doing well and is very active. I would say that circled storm will hit The Isle of Wight and carry on to London as the conditions seem reasonably favourable.

Nothing on blitzortung - just goes to show why you shouldn’t rely too much on lightning detectors

That really annoys me lol. One loud rumble near Warminster at 10.00 this morning, nothing was detected.

Eyes on the developments. One CG seen so far due to daylight of course. It's pretty windy, which will hamper my photography attempts after dark.

Hard to see on this photo, but there are plenty of bands of mid-level towers out there organising themselves.IMG_20220515_201411.thumb.jpg.b85d946f1cef2ad58feb378159e48853.jpg

I didn't make it to Brighton in time. Just north of Luton now at Toddington services. Trying to decide if to still head towards Brighton or maybe a SW track towards Bournemouth.

Somewhere around Lyme Regis would be a good bet mate, what ya think?

Anyone who is bored and is expecting nothing in Central Britain, Listen up!

It looks like the very active Western MCS is going to survive the channel and conditions seem reasonably favourable for the storms to track North and sustain their lightning. Mid level cape and high humidity is expected for the next 4 hours!

About to head home, but here in Hempstead (near Gillingham) the southern sky does look thundery. Alas nothing on blitzortung from this local mass.
