Here's one of the good runs from yesterday, showing a line of storms moving into the South this evening, versus the 9z today on which they've completely disappeared!

Capture.thumb.JPG.621e3761e60157b03a126af65d49efa0.JPG

These storms are elevated and feeding off of energy in the mid-levels. There's no need for any kind of energy from the surface for their development

Ah ok. Thanks Lance M

Well this westward shift is very rapid within 10/15 mins. Everyone saying Kent clipper blah blah blah. Just wait until 8pm at least. Hopefully surprise tonight

I'm hoping to get something tonight, however the closer it gets the more unlikely even a rain shower is looking like. Around the Portsmouth area seems the best place to be for storms in my opinion.

Fantastic ominous looking clouds here in Kent

Good luck. Wouldn't hold too much hope though.

Loving the latest ARPEGE and WRF NMM MUCAPE charts for tonight - keen on a decent swathe of 500 up to 1,000 J/Kg.

Edit - this is for London and SE - NMM being more generous of two.

those cells near the channel islands could be interesting for a few on the S coast as they are tracking straight north.

Very true and surprises also pop up without warning too,S channel islands popping off now

i think anywhere in this circle(clear sector on sat) has the chance to produce some good storms.

Some of the concerns about the MCS sapping up all the energy maybe misplaced - looks like fresh cells firing behind the MCS

Even ARPEGE still much better than last night. Here's GFS ML CAPE too, unfortunately no MUCAPE charts.

Are we gonna get a storm here or near here tonight?

The short answer is no.

The long answer is absolutely 100% hell no.

Impressive outflow from that MCS on satellite, looks like a shockwave rolling through

If it comes I'm going to try and get the shelf on camera, it's certain to have one, might look out for one regardless, the out flow will still be there, even if lightning has gone.

Aye not a bad shout, tend to get some good shelfs on these imports.

This looks like it is a supercell or something similar. I have been watching its hook like feature for a few mins!

I would take shelter right now if you were near that! That looks like a debris ball!
