2 hours ago and with the movement would suggest you're spot on, interested to see how much that affects the next few runs, I think it's slightly more northern than expected but correct me if I'm wrong.

Hope latest ukv is not correct from a southern perspective...would be incredibly annoying to have the action just forming as it clears our area...

Good for south midlands and EA though....suspect more changes to come...classic difficult situation to forecast accurately....

Got some heavy sporadic raindrops touching down and the sky is looking rather ominous not heard any thunder yet but glad to hear some fellow midlanders are finally out the no storms club

He rang me back 5 minutes later after he'd gone around the houses electrics checking, everything looks ok, must of been a very very close hit.

It's still going strong and has been for hours, gutting as never a good storm when I go up there especially with their view over the hills to the coast!

Classic situation of how localised these storms can be. ..

From running the radar it appears to be constantly developing in situ and suffecient shear pushing it north....everything coming together at this exact place... crazy thing is probably 400 metres further south from the front of the action is close enough to see and hear the storm big time but get no rain...dont know if any video was made given the circumstances...just glad your dad and family/house ok..

there seemed to be quite a line of cloud developing over Telford -- seemed to have faded in the last radar run a bit, but looks like something more than nothing!

It seems to have broken up a bit now so the radar is correct, patches of blue sky appearing more readily and the sun has started to come out, hoping for some more build up later on if not hopefully we'll be in for a shout at some point over the weekend

Looks like all the energy from Brum has transferred to this cell.

Finally had thunder and lightning here (5 miles N of Shrewsbury). A brief downpour but looking at the radar there was more rain a few miles to the S and W of here. Finally some weather in 2022!

Rainfall accumulation map pretty much backs that up..

Interesting one tonight, with an air of 'anything could happen' about it.. Anything including absolutely nothing of course. Going by Dan's forecast, anywhere in the channel region could see some elevated lightning, but the radar already looks a bit messy with a lot of crud surrounding those French surface-based storms.

i think this is most difficult one they had to forecast, tbh i personally think we will only get heavy rain.

@staplehurst whats your thoughts on tomorrow night please?

I'll still be heading out with the camera

If I'd listened to all the naysayers on here a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't have witnessed 3 decent events, and missed out on the best 3/5 day thundery spell I can remember in all my years

And if nothing does happen, so be it, at least I'll have had a nice quiet evening
