Very heavy rain now in Eastbourne - plenty of elevated thunder rolls from the IC lightning...it all just started from nothing - moderate rainfall and then lightning flashed

Thunder, West Isle of Wight.

Time to head out with the camera!

Not worth it, so far! We were just the breeding ground. Think that might be it for my location...

Full on disco show now over Poole.

That’s escalated quickly! Half hour ago radar was clear in Dorset, now some epic storms breaking out!

Not sure any model had storms kicking off by 9pm on the South Coast?

Exactly, hence stressing to incorporate an error bar of a couple of hours because the instability plume is already there and it's a case of how quickly (or slowly) would it destabilise. Earlier initiation favours more of the south coast, later initiation and the whole thing would be further inland. Fortunately it's occurred earlier, although perhaps not early enough for West Sussex coast?

The rumbles of thunder have been replaced by the rumbles of jet planes that are presumably skipping around the Bournemouth cells and over my head.

Just north of London. Hope I'm too late. Never going to get to the south coast in time.

The storms slipped around the back of me unfortunately. Nice to hear some rumbles though.

Sat in the caravan on the seafront at Normans Bay, Pevensey, (between Eastbourne and Hastings) and it's all kicking off nicely. Hopefully I'll get a good pic in a mo.

Also in caravan but at World Horse Welfare Snetterton! Dreadful NEly/N'ly for 3 days, cold even with June sunshine. Interesting seeing low level cloud racing along one way and upper levels moving more slowly in the other direction. Not that our chances here are any good but v cross as I've lost my brand new Strike Alert, no idea where it is. ☹️

I wonder if this will roll on and off as it travels north - cells dyeing out and then new ones popping up along the line of instability...its just all suddenly stopped
