As it now looks like Monday will bring the peak temperatures I would like to change my guess to 37.9C at Heathrow on Monday.

For Wales, 32.9C at Cardiff airport sometime on Monday…..

Here are the runners and riders. Sorry @Radiating Dendrite, @Sky Full, @Summer18 and @sukayuonsensnow - you entered after the deadline so haven't been included.

Temperature Competition (1).xlsx

The top temperature yesterday (day 1) was 30.1c as Gosport Fleetlands, which means these people are out of the running:

StormLoser 26.5c
Rich_Clements 29c
ribster 29.2c

Looks like my guess of 39C could well have been on the conservative side!  Oh well, too late now.

This might have been a problem, as it appears it took a week to re-start

Keeping in mind too that the contest as per original rules ends with Monday, higher values on Tuesday won't count right?

Mentioned in the model thread that locations in Spain were running very close to their all-time highs on Thursday. All-time records in western France are around 41 C so the current model projections are basically bringing all-time record values north through France into Britain. Time will tell if this is correct.

27.2c at Heathrow was the top temp yesterday, so everyone except our initial early drop outs is still in play. Getting to the business end tomorrow..

I was thinking my guess of nearly 41° was being a bit silly. Might be bob on, what's the prize?

EDIT: 'Sokay, I looked up the original post.

33.0 at Hawarden may be Sunday's high. All down to Monday now in this contest. If I win by accident I will donate my prize to the Tuesday value closest guess since it would probably be higher (and ineligible). Don't think it will happen because my guess of 40.3 is better for Tuesday than Monday.

Out of the UK currently.

Perhaps it's natural scepticism about extreme temps kicking in , but I'll go with something comparable to previous events, and say 38.5 in the London area, and today. Knowing what has happened on previous occasions I'd expect Tuesday to be cloudier, which will knock the temps on the head.

The highest reading I saw today was 38C in Cambridge, but that did not reach the meteociel Tmax map where 37.3 is the highest. Probably the official UK data when available will show something a little over 38 as the high, and that's yer contest winner by the rules. It can get to 41-42 tomorrow and it won't count except as a moral victory I suppose.

The highest reading in France is about 43 C. Several locations had Tmax 42.6 to 42.8 on the meteociel maps.
