Wish I could come with you, I might not get anything here other than maybe something for 10 minutes based off model runs but it's been the luckiest year of my life so far and today feels like it might be one of those days, my radio lost signal which for some reason it likes doing when a Storm is coming even if the Storm won't hit for another 10 hours.

Can already see distant anvil flashes from here, mental given how far away we are.

Is it me or do I feel like a vibrant lightning display is going to happen from this Storm.

Had a little look on Meteologix and most of the lightning shown had a lot of energy to it in terms of its Amp's whereas previous events have had this amount of energy as a one off, distant lightning may actually be able to be captured for once for me. Wonder what is causing it to be so energetic compared to similar events?

Quick look on the UKV and it seems to have something that looks oddly like a trailing stratiform region but those tend to form in different environments, I'm hoping it is correct here and that one does form because I don't think I've ever properly experienced one (I usually learn from experience so may be well off the mark here).

Some members may be thinking your too far East Ben, but where your positioned is 100% perfect (if you like to experience severe weather that is). Good luck to you both, wish I could be there with you! Another time! 👍

Even though we can't Storm Chase yet doesn't mean me and my gf (I'll use her name in the future, Ruby)l can't virtual Storm chase, just hope she isn't staying awake for nothing, would be a cruel introduction into the world of busts.

A lot of activity heading to the Channel Islands. Here's a snap from Webcam de Saint-Germain-sur-Ay.

Wisley Airfield is right by the A3 interchange (junction 10 I think). You have to park your car at the end of a small road and walk over a log but when you’re on the airfield itself it’s very open and away from major lights. The A3 noise is a bit of an issue - but it’s a lovey spot and I can imagine pretty good for a night like tonight.

Another option is Butser Hill but that’s very central along the coast so probably too far west…

I was thinking of Leith Hill looking to the south… or that car park near Epsom Racecourse - but it will be full of stoners and/or doggers, and the light pollution there isn’t great

Devil's dyke just north of Hove is a great spot if you can get there buddy, always my first port of call with these situations as visuals are awesome.

Thanks. Decided to just do the bridge and delays weren't as bad as my sat nav made out. In Kent now mulling over my next driving stint.

As someone else has said earlier ashdown forest between crowborough and nutley is good viewing, good elevation and good visuals.

Thing's are really starting to kick off now around the Cherbourg peninsula and the channel Islands, looking very promising now. Time to start getting ready to head up to devil's dyke for a visual I think. The chase is on!

Jersey webcam shows lightning firing every 5 seconds or so. Very active!

Absolutely hearing and feeling this. I thought a few nights ago how the timing couldn't be worse for a storm fanatic! My body clock is sleep 02:00 - wake up 08:00. I'm catching this one whatever it takes........ been too long! Storms come before my health 🤣

If my eyes aren't deceiving me then there is a shelf cloud thing with an anvil next to me, in fact, just saw lightning.

I have a bad feeling Lincolns going to get a big storm whilst I'm currently up in Lancashire for the next week. Would be classic timing.

Can't wait to get a car saved up for next Summer for some chasing
