Ok so after a bit of waiting I'm about to get a storm! Lightning arrived just in time, or it would of gone past without a show!

Yeah, that looks like it. Seemed like it was hitting one of the council high rises, but it could have just been a fortuitous alignment from where I was standing.

exactly the same scenario as you in Congleton....could see the shelf cloud, the greenish tinge underneath with a few distant flashes and rumbles....didn't get that close unfortunately but was a beautiful thing to look at....

We got hit by that storm here. Very frequent thunder and lightning at one point, mostly I-C lightning with the odd CG boom.

Really dark anvil ahead of this storm and some nice blue/green tones amongst the cells as they were gathering to the South. A couple of CG's over the harbour and still have lightning coming down to the North of me and now the suns out!

Could look very promising, usually storms happen to the East of us so we tend to miss out but looks like it's heading our way

Edit: Hoping it's not dying down,  but does seem to look that way now. Looking stormy outside though

Nothing here bar 15 mins of moderate rain. Lightning detector said lightning 7 miles away. Yeah, whatever....

Sympathies!

You're about 40m from where we are, often they whisk past us quite quickly out to sea

There just aren't enough storms anymore - we've had a few decent ones but 2017 was the best year of late; we had one July/August time early hours, must have been a good hour and a half, really loud crashes but constant deep rumbles from all directions...couple of them shook the house, got to be the most intense storm I can recall

Back home and lightning being detected to my south. Don't think it will amount to much though.

A few flashes and first (deep)  rumbles of thunder! It seems very loud considering that it's still miles away.

That storm in NE England is producing 90+ strikes a minute.

Just been treated to a pretty decent storm..

I have some footage as well but it will have to wait 🎉😁... UKv has heavy showers forming in southern areas as the evening draws on.. but it might be a similar situation as last night, so I won't be getting too excited

On another note, was in the phone to Nodrog, it sounds like he's had a very productive afternoon, which included him almost getting struck by lightning! Should be an interesting watch when he finally manages to upload to YouTube 😁
