From an IMBY perspective its looking very tight. I've made a (very accurate(!)) overlay of the map. This is the current prediction for 10:00 tomorrow morning, from the UKV model.

Of course no model is 100% and there will be further updates so it'll be all eyes on the rain radar! I just hope it doesn't end up going too far East.

The cells just to the N of Hereford look like they may head just out side our area to the West

Maybe produce one last distant viewing opportunity😉

Absolutely still outside at the moment before the long line of doom arrives.

Thunderstorm just north of luton. Unfortunately distant rumbles and flashes from here. But seems a bit pokey, showing lightning returns on allmetsat. Anyone in flitwick or Bedford could be in for a treat.

Down in LB can see flashes from the cell south of Luton. LB shield holding up well as per usual 😉

and it came from no where! I always have a nose on the radar to see if there was a chance of rain for the school run and there was some bog standard blue returns coming my way. Then i thought i saw a  flash and boom. best storm i've had all year.

This is a pretty intense storm, great natural alarm clock albeit very sudden lmao.

A good half hour or so of thunder and lightning in Wellingborough, lovely surprise to wake up to! Wasn't expecting this for the time of year.

Looks like the 2nd storm of the year maybe heading our way. Depends if it survives this far. Interestingly the storm developed very quickly from an area of light rain.

What a mad storm that is on top of us ! Getting crawlers that fill the whole sky 🌌 Sadly my pro camera died but an IPhone 12 should do the trick.

THUNDERSTORM WATCH - THURS 20TH OCT 2022

Fffj5eEX0AEVwnq.thumb.png.247403c0062509780294687943d7f24c.png

Issued 2022-10-20 06:20:30
Valid: 20/10/2022 0600 - 21/10/2022 0600

Forecast Details

Upper and collocated surface low will continue to loiter to the SW of Ireland on Thursday. A cold front will continue to push NE and E across northern and eastern areas of Britain through the morning – which separates warm/moist plume to the east and cooler more stable Atlantic airmass to the west. The cold front will bring outbreaks of rain across northern and eastern areas this morning, with some embedded line convection producing thunderstorms as it clears E England – which is increasingly evident on recent radar / lightning detectors to the N of London, with E Midlands, Cambs, Lincs up to N Yorks looking particularly likely to see a risk of thunderstorms. The cold front trails / more slow to clear this morning towards SE England and across the English Channel into N France, due to waves running north along the frontal boundary into SE England through the morning, with pulses of heavier rain with embedded thunderstorms moving N across SE England and East Anglia before the cold front eventually clears east this afternoon. There is risk of intense rainfall leading to localised flash-flooding where thunderstorms develop in the rainfall moving N along the cold front as it clears NE and E, along with a risk of frequent lightning. Some lightning and hail is possible with heavy showers moving in across SW England / S Wales this evening too.

Wow looks impressive over Bedford, must be getting close to flooding. Agree it’s very mild. Just been for a very sweaty run, with feint bizarre flashes of distant lightning now and again. Cooling off outside in the light drizzle.

Wow look at that forming in the SE now! Bedford up to the W of Peterborough looks very impressive too.
What a morning! So late on in the season!
