Pictures I took around 8:30AM this morning of some dark looking unstable mid-level clouds before a load of showers came in an hour or so later.

Heavy rain overnight (No storms but I am in my own high pressure zone as you know...lol). Weather warning out for....a sunny Sunday with the odd shower. Really?

Back to the potting shed and a sherry in the greenhouse.

Just woken up 5 mins ago and already heard a rumble of thunder outside our house, it sounded like someone rolling around their recycle bin and had to think about it first in case it was 😅

Some fairly close strikes this morning here in Hailsham. Thunder gave me a start as it's the time of year when I generally stop checking the radar for storms.

Already seeing some rapid convection over NW France, that looks promising for later today.

Very odd question but what are the chances in Paris later would you say because I want a photo of lightning in front of some Disney ride lol?

Also if you can, can you recommend me some high level thunderstorm reading (online document would be helpful as I don't have much money),  I find pHD thesis' easier to understand than the supposedly easier stuff for some reason.

Biblical rain here in the New Forest last night, along with some thunder: unfortunately I was too tired to get up and watch at 4am but am sure any lightning would have looked great from our balcony view!

So am now sitting in sunshine, watching the sky to my S/W and hoping today I will see some stunning cloudscapes. 🤞😊

Uh, not my area of expertise, but looks like a few storms may develop sometime in the evening but that's about all I can give.

Tremendous downpour just now. Flash flooding almost certainly going to be a concern today!

Morning, all you Thunder lovers.

After those two blistering heatwaves during the Summer and with what must be higher than average S.S,T's in the English Channel, it should come as no surprise to experience quite a Thundery Autumn, especially in Southern Coastal locations.

We seem to be developing a Mediterranean type climate.

Thundery transition from Spring > Summer. I witnessed a couple of Thundery episodes here in S.E. London, in May.

This was followed by a pretty much Thunder free Summer, which was followed by a bit of Thunder as Summer transitioned into Autumn.

Being half Italian, I have witnessed plenty of Thundery episodes whilst on holiday during October, in Southern Italy.

Regards,

Tom Q. 👍

Looks like I'm out chasing after all, heading Reigate or Sevenoaks region. Conditions are better this morning than I had expected.

Multi-model 6 hour maximum thunderstorm risk is a great way of looking at the risk in my opinion and I have to agree with Ben here it's looking really good, just as I go away of course.

It happened in my town just before dawn, only some residents who live at the bottom of 3 hills think the council are to blame! No way could any drain in their location cope with an inch plus of rain in less than half an hour!

Part two incoming.

For the evening, the UKV shows a few stragglers as the low makes its way across the south, too. I'd love to have one final nighttime lightning photography chance this year.

Just to add,...the radar has the showers further WSW at 13:00 than the UKV so this would be good news for more parts of the SE to be in the action.
