Bright and cold in the marginals, but still feels like spring out of the wind. This event is going to be interesting-synoptics looking good and as said yesterday this is the classic set up for the East Cheshire marginals-but it's getting late in the year, how much will altitude be a factor and small differences in low position could make a very big difference. Not sure i'm going to see many colleagues from the Peak District for a day or two though!

Same to an extent here.  Lots of talk about Mcr, Merseyside and Cheshire, rather less about Cumbria.

With snow, I love to hear about the experience elsewhere…but only after my backyard has a covering.  Until that covering is in place envy takes over!

To an extent yes, but I find the members in here are more respectful of the ones missing out. Personally I’d love to see the likes of Preston to Cumbria to get a pasting but not at the expense of my location. 🙂

Metoffice automated shows a sleety mess for here on Thursday. I won’t be getting carried away.

Cold seems to have extended into Sunday now.

2c isn't mild at all and that's what is showing for here on Sunday, at least by the GFS.

Yeah, automated metoffice output was showing double figures for here on Sat on yesterday's output, now down to a max of 5C. The cold air is not being easily shunted away.

Peoples inability to use ‘too’  in all the threads drives me nuts.

I always find their temps a few degrees out all through the year. Often they over do winter temps and under do summer.

If ECM is anything to go by , North of Manchester could miss out totally on Thursday / Friday .

Don’t say that the MO warning goes into Scotland surely can’t be that far out.

Yes, it’s far more respectful in here.

Carlisle and Glossup can have a historic dumping and I will be delighted…as long as there is at least a thin covering here!

That's what the regional threads are for.

Indeed but you can't begrudge the facts though. The posts I hate is "I think we will see further adjustments southwards" basing on nothing but gut and probably wishful thinking.

I am amazed how much the cold air is fighting back, it looked an almost foregone conclusion most of England will be in the milder air but now a slight change in the orientation and positioning of the low could well change the story all together.

I hope it changes , But once they start correcting South it usually continues . Thats why the people in the Midlands are getting excited in the Model Thread ,

I must admit I’m even getting concerned for Cheltenham next week.

Yeah, agreed. Good for a general guide on temp trends based on raw model output going forwards though.

Indeed, past experience suggests the model bias to underestimate cold blocks and hence for battlegrounds to move south is very real.  Hence the excited posters in MOD thread from the likes of Leicester and NE Cotswolds are not just hope casting.

Seems I'm to far north now 😞

I'd wait until tomorrow's models runs before giving up hope. The situation is far from resolved yet.
