Just listened to Simon King on BBC Manc

He said the forecast is a nightmare.

Thursday, patchy sleet and snow, then.... evening and into Friday is the heavy stuff.

Off for walk at bugsworth basin along peak forest canal later and lunch at navigation inn…

on the other NMM/WRF model which goes out slightly further, the shadow area does recede eventually into Friday, very slowly.

from what I’ve seen, G Manchester will struggle to get any lying snow until the early hours of Friday which is what @Kasim Awan was alluding to yesterday.

That horrible gaping hole over the area in the snow accumulation charts is very visible again sadly, obviously there is lots of uncertainty so we will have to see. 😊

Difficult to see what's going to happen in 24 hrs at the moment so time to focus on what is going on now. On the current radar over the Humber estuary is a blob that is shown on the met office precipitation maps. The met show it making its way here early afternoon. Might be one to watch.

Last posted yesterday on p216, now on to p227, I wonder what that's all about? 😉

Half expecting to see another cold sunny morning with some ice on the windscreens, but what did I see? Cloudy and dry and no ice apart from a bit in the birdbath!

WRF not so good this morning. 0°C isotherm makes it past Blackpool. Need that to correct south a bit. It does seem to be one of the furthest north model at the moment though so hopeful of that.

Was just looking at that mate, I have looked at about 10 models this morning and I would say a blend of all looks just about right 👍

Must admit not expecting much here as I think the air will be too dry and there is a clear rain shadow affect appearing in the models. It will be interesting watching it all develop though, it does look line the further south in the region you are the more risk but high reward scenario exist.

Got to admit I'm a bit confused this morning(more so than usual old man confused).Looked at my weather apps including the BBC and the snowfall tomorrow/friday has downgraded to sleet ,but just seen the TV forecast from Carol Kirkwood and it still indicates a period of prolonged snowfall. Think it's just gonna be window watching

In Hindley Green and feel your pain. Apps showing sleet and not much of that.

Will probably end up being another BFTE with a snowless triangle over our area.

Still 🤞though.

Icon looking very good especially Pennine members. Looking a bit dicey for most of Gtr Manchester. Hopefully I'm just slightly east of the shadow or the models are over-doing it. Not being greedy I'll take a few cm. But wouldn't be surprised to be left with just a few flakes in the wind.

Met office updated warning has downplayed the event from a high impact, to a medium and specifically mentions NW England cities, citing it will turn to rain after very limited accumulations. The only meaningful snow away from hills being in Yorkshire, according to the update.
