Pretty much melted on tarmac now. How disappointing. Clearly Atlantic fronts will never be out friend in Cheshire.

Not got out of bed yet, just watching the winter wonderland from the warmth.

Work has been put on hold for the moment.

Not incredible but have about 3cm here not too bad overall as there was only the tiniest of dustings when I went to bed. Looking at the radar it must have come through just after 5 o'clock.

First March snow cover since the little Beast from the East of mid March 2018.

March snow has been a rarity in the last few years. 2011, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021 were all snowless and March 2022 might as well been as it was just a few flakes

What snow cover is disappearing fairly steadily here, so if you got a decent covering make the most of it now. I think the March sun is going to make good work on it.  Going to be really icy for those with a deep cover and snow melt tomorrow morning.

Sun's out and a rapid melt of overnight snow is taking place.

If this was Dec or Jan we would have been buried.

Forecasters got it spot on IMO.

Hats off to them.

Same here in neighbouring Crewe and signs of it brightening up with patches of blue sky around. Pretty well as forecast.

Tape measure out.. about 6cm

Enough that all the local kids are playing in it. Theyve not seen more than 2 or 3 cm in their lifetime. This covered the grass and the pavements.

we had about 3cm yesterday and about 1cm around 10pm last night which then melted. Accumilatively an impressive cold spell

Already melting quickly now on grass. Not even enough to play with the dog.

Merseyrail have cancelled all the trains 🙄at least work will be quiet. No disruption other than that the roads were fine. Lovely wintry scenes before the March sun does a number on it.

I can hear drip dip. Sun is coming out and the snow is slowly starting to melt. Glad we had a nice covering though to wake up to.

Isn't tomorrow nights event mainly for the hills

I wouldnt rule out a surprise event for some. See what the numbers look like overnight and morning tomorrow. Enough cold air about. But the sun is modifying alot of air now.

The models are toying with the idea

Where did you get this from? Surely only delayed? All showing as running on the app

The front early tomorrow arriving before lunch will produce a localized 1-2cm of hail/snow below 100m in the west of region with precipitation gradually becoming lighter in the shield zone as the easterly sets up behind the initial front - which will be central and north cheshire and manchester by the way. By end of play tomorrow I expect a scattered slushy 1-2cm in the sheild area with persistent wet snow giving locally 2-3cm in higher parts of the Wirral etc. Amounts sharply increasing east of Stockport up into the peaks where the 10cm line will likely hug 200m ASL and the 30cm line around 350m asl with drifts in excess of 10ft possible above 400m asl into Friday. Amounts also increasing north of Manchester where less high ground may allow more moisture to push into places like Burnley, Colne etc where 3-7cm is possible low down. On the eastern Pennines drop these snow lines by around 150m asl @winterof79, where due to increased orographic slowing and less orographic dew point rise expect a lower 10cm line thus encompassing most urban conorbations. Early Friday as the front wraps round I expect a continuation of the sheild effect and general pattern described above however a drop in temps may allow snow to develop at lower levels for a time producing perhaps another 1-3cm at low levels especially in the south of the region.

Buxton 27cm

Stockport 1-2cm

Wirral 1-3cm

Flintshire 8-12cm

Oldham 5-12cm

Glossop 22cm

Sheffield 10cm

Leeds 10cm

Actually pretty proud of this
