Tomorrow last chance of thunder until the weekend. A little worried about wind direction though

Another promising start to the day, giving false hopes. Unlike yesterday when the rain held off until late afternoon, today it set in just after lunch to give a miserable damp afternoon. This evening has produced two further bursts of heavy rain - one right now interspersed with grey drizzly skies.

Can't see us escaping with a dry day all week. Thursday looks the quietest driest day, but overall a very wet and cool week ahead.

It’s fine margins tomorrow. The further S&E you are in the region the better by the looks of things. If you’re within a few miles of the coast then you can forget it as there will be an onshore breeze.

Given the wind direction forecast, M56 corridor southwards should be ok regardless of position. Those N of this will need to be a few miles inland but how many ‘few’ is is difficult to call.

I'm thinking south-east of a line Talacre / Heswall / Wallasey / Bootle / Kirkby / Parbold / Chorley and points NE

Estofex mentions development of scattered, well organised storms for the Southern half of the region today and for Southernmost parts (Cheshire and parts of Greater Manchester etc), there is a level 1 warning for marginally large hail, as shown below.

No lightning anywhere yet but only a matter of time. Got radio on. Shower after shower here.

Some strikes near Macclesfield. Nothing apart from that yet. This is a big shower overhead now. Would like a bit of sun to increase energy.

Shower and gone dark here, now heavy rain.  Radio indicated 2 possible  sferics that sounded close by, but no lightning nor thunder heard.  Radio just picked up strikes SW Stoke.

Nice sunny morning, now replaced with  an abundance of showers. The blue skies and summer weather of June is now just becoming a distant memory. It's shaping up to be a really bad July and the outlook remains really poor for the next 10 days at least.

It's more insult to injury when you check the charts and see that the rest of Europe is enjoying a high pressure dominated July, and we're stuck at the mercy of the jet stream.

Really frustrating.

can hear reasonably regular distant rumbles from the storm just north of Stoke, too bright to see any lightning but we are on the very edge so we did get a bit of moderate rain. Promising for the rest of the day.

Shower number 723 coming in and it's a biggie. Still no sun between showers which is concerning.
