I’d let you know if we get anything but I’m over the hill into Calderdale shortly.

Aye our daughter moved over there to the darkside a few years ago.

in fairness, happy valley is a lovely place when the sun shines but it can be a bit dicy when torrential rain and storms are about.

no doubt Hebden Bridge will be chocker when we drive through.

Sudden strikes west of Preston. Went from nothing to loads of strikes in one minute. stopped again now.

That was a decent storm, thought it would pass to the west of here but seemed to veer east and got a direct hit! Plenty of thunder and lightning.

Even though the main summer was poor it was bookended by cracking heatwaves and thunderstorms.

I'm sticking with my original thoughts. I think the peak will be around 8-9 pm

That suits me. Nothing worse than house chores when there's a thunder storm that needs watching.

So close to that Preston Cell but no thunder heard and lightning seen in Leyland. Hopefully it will come bit later.

BBMF PA474 is currently airbourne and over the Cheshire/Derbyshire/N.Mids area in the next hour or two, storm-dodging and hoping to get back to Coningsby before the main thundery action begins.

Just had a short spell of rain, no thunder though. Nothing of significance to the South of here yet, but I'm assuming things could spark off anywhere at any moment this afternoon.

Doesn’t look like it, atm Looks like the main area of instability is further north across parts of north Lancashire, Cumbria going into the far NE of England. All the mess coming up from the south is just not kicking off.

Yes, that is my concern for Southern parts of the region. Not throwing the towel in yet though.

Moderate to heavy rain here now, 22.4C.

Something intensifying out west of Macc, sky dark in that direction, my view from the window is currently blocked with scaffolding, dry at the moment here, but won't be for long.  Hope my scaffolding doesn't get hit if it thunders.😦⚡

Heard and saw the Lancs passing over the Goyt, quite low down avoiding the mid-layer clouds and not hanging around on it's way SE to Ripley.

Didn't want that "mess" to come up. They tend to suppress storm development possibility rather than encourage it. Something that those who live in the south coast counties  dread when they see these areas coming up from France.

Yes, very frustrating. Rain has almost cleared through here now, just wondering whether there is a chance of a clearance and some sun behind this to take advantage of the last couple of hours of decent daytime heating potential.
