Looking at the radar you can clearly see the rain shadow over Cheshire and south Manchester.

30.9mm picked up 9 GMT this morning for previous 24hrs. Still raining. We are on the slippery slope into a wet backend now.   Trees being  given a good shake after a long quiet spell.  So there's debris on the roads.

Heavy rain here now. Alot of standing water around here as well.

Persistent rain from the word go here today, a slight lull at moment but radars backfilling and the rain will bloom again as it passes higher ground and western upslopes so probably another few hours of moderate to heavy rain to see out the day.

Edit: Latest blob of rain has thankfully moved further north of my abode so hopefully it's dying off here a bit now.

It is steady rain past couple of hours here now. Probably not going to stop for another couple of hours. Today's weather is just remnants of Hurricane Lee.

An Hgv has blown over at dunford bridge on the woodhead and we’ve got a few branches down… didn’t think it’d be this windy today…

They were touting 55 to 60 mph gusts so with trees in full leaf, thats enough to topple them.

Having tea at The Dog &  Partridge in Woodhouses so about 3 miles from the Etihad.  Off to Derker later at the T.O.G. club for my son to visit.

Deluge here.  Bowland getting trashed.

Yeah, areas to the north of here seem to be copping the worst of it today.

Up to 35mm here so far and it's very reminiscent of the 23rd of July when we got to 48mm, up til now the wettest day of the year.

Will we get to 50mm today? Looking at the conveyor of rain coming off the Irish Sea it looks a possibility.

A mere 8.8mm of rain has fallen in Buxton since midnight but the 45mph winds this morning made commuting a headache with some tree's & branches down on some minor roads, a lot of leaves are still up on the canopy's although the next few days should see them begin to shed. Not a pleasant day but a lot better than what more northern area's are seeing with the persistent downpours.

Rain just cleared here now. Brief sigh of relief before further rain coming overnight/morning.

Only 16 mm of rain so far today after 30 mm yesterday. Seems to have cleared again don't know if they'll be anymore.

chance of a potent squall line tomorrow

I'm not sure it is. Nigel is coming close next week though.

7mm of rain here today, a lot less than other parts of the region. Some gusty winds at times which has been more of a feature than the rain here today.

Squally showers to start here and some gusty winds. Certainly a mild night, overnight low of 15.6C.
