clear again, and today the cloud isnt lingering so much in the East, maybe we might just stay clear this evening...

With the forthcoming unsettled pattern, totally clear skies are going to be rare, lets just hope we dont get too much cloud..

Had a watch from 3am to 3.45, good visibility, but nothing seen of any NLCs.  Sigh.

I was a bit worried losing visibility just before the mornings nautical twilight approached.

So I'm happy to hear the 'meerkat' was on hand to confirm the no show😅

No interesting signal from any of the radar sites today so a pretty small chance of any displays ,, apart from possibly low on our horizon below the smut level

I`ll keep an eye out, fairly clear skies atm

still some high cloud giving the impression .. but nothing

I think the exposure levels are on an auto timer system at Flensburg Rob

Felnsburg is a good camera, maybe its better than many of the Eurocams scattered about most of Germany/Switzerland/Poland/Check republic etc...

If they are there, then Flensburg and the other IAP cameras always show. They are fit for purpose.

Some early faint signals on OSWIN and Chapel Dewi offer some hope for this evening (North Sea cloud permitting🥴)

After 2 negative shows, maybe 3rd night lucky👍

No storms tonight after all, and clear skies to the north + no work tomorrow, so I'd happily take the first display of the year 👍

I need to look up the camera settings I used last time I photographed these, as I've genuinely forgotten!

Just as a guide a large aperture and increase the exposure time/ ISO as it gets darker

last nights photo was f 5.0 @ 6"  ISO 125  at nautical twilight, as it gets darker from then I like to increase the ISO as apposed to the time

Edit; you may get away with shorter exposure times as i have to shoot through a light pollution filter👍

Thank you! Last (and first!) time I managed to snap them, it was already three years ago and back when I still lived on 'the mainland'. A lot's happened since then and I've genuinely forgotten what settings I went for!

Looking back through Facebook, this was how they turned out:

I've only seen one display to match this one since  😞
