Might make little difference but found a webcam from Ettelsberg at 51.3N 8.6E

That visibility map looks interesting @Jamie M 👍

Ok..... if a day away (24 hrs) in 72 degrees East (of the greenwich meridian) ... then 24 into 72, is roughly 3, so 3 degrees per hour in advance.
Ideally what we need then are webcams at around the UKs latitude situated between 3 and 6 degrees east of Greenwich, if we are going to get an "on the night" warning ... If this works, it could save us time and prepare us for a show.... now all we need are webcams that are of any use, between 3 - 6 degrees east. I make that around Belgium and Holland...

ps... MAARSY

OK, MAARSY.....

I make that institue is 11 degrees East, meaning that when they get overhead (same latitude as northern england) echoes, we should see them 4 hours later?....

so on the chart below, the latest is 1700, 1300 is what we are getting now.... therefore what they show at 1900 we should get at 2300? and 2000 we get at midnight.... yes?

Thats assuming Arnies 360 degree 5 day cycle, = 72 degrees a day, = about 3 degrees an hour.

thoughts? am i correct?....

Believe it's the radar echoes from the clouds

But they indicate the conditions for clouds dont they? So without an echo then theres no clouds?

Abstract. A 31 MHz meteor radar located in Svalbard was used to observe polar mesospheric echoes (PMSEs) during summer 2020. Data from 19 July were selected for detailed analysis, with a focus on extracting...

SOUSY is also mentioned here detecting polar mesospheric echoes which we'd associate with the NLCs like with the OSWIN radar

How many times have we asked the same question over the years Rob? i thought after seeing it mentioned on the European facebook site, last season, that it indicates the ingredients for the clouds to form, but not actual clouds  .. it`s never really made scense to me

Dunno m8... i forget things easily.. yes i understand it indicates the ingredients for clouds, not the actual clouds... to me that would indicate whether they are possible, or not. No ingredients = no clouds.. so thats a help!

 Frustrating beyond belief

Over the years sometimes when we have seen massive signals on Marrsy there have been NLC`s seen over Europe.

More often than not the same explosion of signals have revealed nothing

That`s why we or nobody else has never been able to use the radar signals as a reliable forecasting tool

Give me a daisy anyday🙂

where are the signals on Oswin radar?
