Looks like a carbon copy of last Sunday morning. Convective rain turning messy and an hour or two of moderate to heavy rain and nothing else.

Legitimately does look like it weakens on its western side and the good heavy stuff transfers east. Just gonna be a mass of pointless rain by the time it moves inland

Sam is incredible by the way.

It is cool though I don’t like that haloing around the bush on the left

This first lot will be a squall - by its very nature it will be fairly short-lived at any single location… because it is a squall and that’s what they do.

Interest then lies later on this afternoon… Google weather has downgraded this so I’m actually getting excited now lol

A lot of low-level cloud up here which will obstruct any decent lightning shots unfortunately.

Cool air here will remove any fuel for any storms if they make this far so just rain for us today.

Radar suggests the storms will also be outside of the present warning areas so the Met may extend them.

I can’t speak a word of French so I don’t know what any of it says but I imagine it’s something along the lines of

”Another day of heavy thunderstorms, straight ahead. Ooh la La. Cloud cover at the marketplace. Will it ever stop? What time is it? One ticket to Paris, please. Possible hail. Yes, of course. No, just two loaves of bread. There’s a potential for severe gusts. What is your name? I live in England. Showers will continue after midnight. Please.”

Think it's best to wait and see today!

The storm we had overnight in South Devon and Torbay was quite unusual IMO, it kept having pulses of lightning, then quietening off, before renewing again. Very squally winds for a short period too.

It was only later on that the power went off briefly after what must have been a direct strike somewhere nearby.

Certainly had plenty of rain since midnight as well🦆🦆🌧🌧😂

Will be a day of pop fart downpours and weak thunderstorms, blink and you miss them.

Sporadic sferics all over the place, just not enough CAPE to get excited.

Ah yes because we always have CAPE in excess of 1,000 J/KG.

A lot of people seem to think see live in the US. Unfortunately, we have to deal with the hand we're dealt. Do the best with what we've got.

I definitely don’t think this but I find it hard to get excited over moderate rainfall personally.

Any small shower, you can find something to photograph on. One thing I do agree with you on, is the mid-level crud storms, especially in the day, there's essentially no point to them. Rarely do they seem to have loud thunder either.

Yeah that’s the problem - we haven’t had even convective showers here. I saw some towering cumulus way to the north on one day in the last few months. I can’t describe how poor it’s been here for anything remotely interesting since May.

I was excited about the potential of the squall but it just doesn’t look that impressive on radar with most of the energy remaining offshore - and even then, all this mid level cloud would make it impossible to see anything.
