September already, that happened quickly! Where did summer go? Well, looks like it's on its way back this weekend and beyond.

So here we go, a new thread for September, first month of Autumn, but still a month where thunderstorms can and do occur. Having said that the first few days of the month at least are offering up low chances of anything thundery with some much yearned summer like sunshine being the flavour of our weather. The exception is today which does look more unsettled and showery, more especially across southeastern parts.

For me, and a lot of us, August was fairly quiet for storms. For those who want the storms, let's hope for an uptick in activity as we head through September.

August thread here for those who want to look back.

Keep posting and remember to keep on topic and to be nice and respectful to others.

Bubbling-up nicely over London at the moment. Lots of moisture for the atmosphere to suck up here in Essex. Winds aloft probably too fast for any storm cells though.

Meto just popped a yellow warning for storms out in parts of SE, just as those cells look heavy on radar.  Cautious alert, or another kiss of death by meto

Looks like they are just building in a convergence area, hence the straight line. I'd expect main hazard heavy rain with flash floods.

Shame its not further west...atmosphere feels ripe for it with high humidity and a calm stillness you often get before a storm...

What is it with this model and dewpoints?

Regardless, pretty decent cape on offer, could be a good thundery breakdown to this heat.

Haven't seen anything from underneath it but radar sure does show it's nasty as well as the sheared anvil

Neat shelfie

Few flashes and rumbles here from it. Can't see the cloud structure though unfortunately. Great pic though, jealous!

That was crazy! I haven't seen rain like that in years. Everywhere flooded in minutes. Driving up the hill to my house was like driving through a waterfall!

It was very impressive from Maidstone looking North over the Downs around 4:30.  The white cloud dropping down was menacing and circulating for about 30 seconds

A line of convergance seems to be growing from Fakenham to gravesend looking at the wind observation map.

Can see the tops of the massive thunder clouds from here in South London.

One of the pictures off my phone I got of the North Kent cell, decent updraft and downdraft separation.

Timelapse is here

Mentioned the possibility of Supercellular characteristics yesterday or potentially a Supercell. Not a Supercell but definetely had the characteristics of one to be fair to me.

Weds thurs and Fri has low potential for the south. Chances are becoming more frequent, but still low confidence. Autumn is beginning and the tables and chairs are turning. We wait for an actual result from one of these opportunities however.

Given flow is more southerly or south-southeasterly, it looks like if we do get some storms, then more should be at risk than recent events!

Devon and Cornwall probably more likely to see imports first next week.
