 Spindrift2017 Thanks for the info. I need correcting on my comment that many saw there coldest min before christmas. The mid Jan spell probably produced coldest mins for most. 

I think Shap was the coldest spot in England around -11 degrees. Nothing special, indeed many years have brought colder mins.

Altnaharra actually bottomed out at -7.1C sometime after 6 am, so that's the new seasonal low to run with.
