How about this😃 current temperature at Foregin station. Picture of location is  from Lee who runs Highland weather project and data from a guy in Kent who captures all PWS in UK called Meophan weather.

I run a Met-Office climate site in Angus (Tealing) and for about 6 hours, my site was the coldest of the season with a reading of -11.5C. The temperature plummeted from -5.0C to -11.5C between 5 and 8pm. It then clouded over...frustrating.

Altnaharra was the lowest overnight with -12.5C. Looks like my site was joint second coldest with Kinbrace. If only I had the rest of the night without clouds...

Check out the temperature plummet and the snowless hills in the background in the second pic!

 -12.5C was Altnaharra's low only until 6am.

Ok, they all are. I've often been unsure which were Met Office and which were not.  Does anyone have a link to where Met Office station output is aggregated, please, whether live or not?

Over a month since this thread saw any action, with the potential for snow cover and slack northerly airstream, this thread may become more active next week... a watching brief..

We haven't even had an air frost here since 6th December. In fact it has only dropped below 2C four times since then. Pretty poor for Dec-Jan.

Not so far off new lows last night. Maybe an outside chance of a new one if somewhere snowy avoids cloud all night

Thanks for posting the current cold spell going under the radar I feel with regard to depth of cold in the Highlands, as said don't need super cold uppers at this time of year to produce notable cold, just a moderate cold source, clear skies and slack airstream, deep snow cover helps though.

Many Scottish stations and a few north east england/ yorkshire stations are likely to see an ice day today.

Tonight could see temps -10 degrees below in Highland Scotland.

It was -10.0C at Tulloch Bridge this morning. With more widepread snow and lighter winds, there is a good chance of lower tonight somewhere in Scotland. Northern England is already 3-4C colder tonight though has a bit more to do to get to a new English low.

Yes Tulloch Bridge is currently -7.3 degrees. I suspect we will see 4 consecutive nights in N Scotland with at least one station going below -10 degrees.

Thursday or Friday morning could see new mins for both England and Scotland under snow cover.

Shap down to -5.1 degrees already.

Not quite there last night - a few degrees off in Scotland but Benson only 1.1C off England's and Shap's previous -9.4C. It's snowing in Northwest England which will help drop temperatures tonight, where cloud clears.

Bournemouth Airport always seems to be a sweet spot for low minima. As it's quite close to the coast you wouldn't expect it.

Officially coldest temp then so far. Tomorrow morning could go colder. Have we a new England low as yet?
