Red Ireland, amber Northern Ireland, Amber isle of Man.  Nasty Monday morning for County Down, Co. Armagh and Isle of Man

https://www.gov.im/weather/heavy-rain-severe-gales-coastal-overtopping/

Warning type      Heavy rain/ severe gales/ coastal overtopping

"a deep area of low pressure (Storm Debi) will bring a period of severe gale or storm force southwest or westerly winds tomorrow morning, strongest between about 08:00 and midday. Gusts are likely of 60-70 mph, with a risk of 70-80 mph. This aspect of the forecast remains a little uncertain, but disruption to travel is likely and if strengths materialise nearer 80 mph then some damage will occur. Winds will then ease in the afternoon"

Other yellows, but NW England coast looks lively by lunchtime

Wow, that UKV looks nasty for central Ireland

It really does have a sting jet look, got higher wind speeds than every other model so got to hope it is overdoing it a bit but it usually quite accurate for our storms.

An extremely narrow area of 100mph winds, that surely suggests sting jet potential?

Thanks for noting us here in the Isle of Man.  This looks horrid! I really hope everyone on my lovely little island stays safe tomorrow.  I wouldn't be surprised if a decision on schools is taken first thing at 7am. (At least til lunchtime to save the traffic during the worst of it).

Pretty last minute this as far as i'm concerned.🙄

Quite a few people are going to get caught out by this as even i didn't know there was a storm coming till literely the last hour or so.

No more then a day or two ago the models were just showing standard wind and rain. A bit of a poor show it has to be said.

Such a small wind field maybe 50 miles wide pretty  much impossible to model

Indeed, the first I heard of it was when the warning came up on my phone this morning, but admittedly I haven’t been keeping my eye on the models for a few days.

Looks like the GFS is looking for another storm on Weds into Thurs, but the ECM doesn’t want to know at the minute.

A couple of peeps on here pointed out the potential for this storm late last week, but only a passing mention, (model potential) seems to have intensified late in the day, so to speak!

Does anyone have a satellite image of this storm?

Quite unusual for it to form literally just off the SW coast of Ireland I think.

I think the 'potential' was there, but the severity has caught a few off guard?!

We're just in the beginnings of Storm Debi this early morning and already half the neighbourhood is covered in warmth & wheelie bins decidedly going on a wander down the road, the river Wye in Buxton currently has two flood alerts for Ashford + Bakewell due to the overnight rainfall and the rest of the day doesn't look too pleasant to be out on the roads.

The storm is done and dusted  here in the west  of Ireland. I don't think the gusts were as strong as forecasted to be anywhere(in Ireland), but still this was a potent storm while  it lasted

Radar looks impressive, atm. It does look like a scorpion's tail curled

Does look stunning, although not so much in real life for the Central Belt

No changes to the forecasts and no surprises the Amber for NW Eng has appeared. These kinds of wind speeds into NW in the middle of the day on a Mon are going to cause some problems... ⚠️

All quiet here and will be until the wind swings round. Luckily the rain is further north than suggested yesterday at one point.

Storm is starting to settle here in the north Irish Midlands. Still some fierce gusts but nothing compared to the constant roar an hour ago. Our electricity is out here which is something that hasn’t happened during a storm in the 15yrs I’m living here. I’ll soon be venturing out to make my commute to Kildare so it’ll be interesting to see what damage has occurred.

The curl of rain is just coming into Isle of Man now. It's soaking and gone very dark!
