27th looking like a washout across the region although probably the only difference between this one and most days over the last few weeks is that at least it comes with a weather warning.

Plenty of cold rain for 99% of the population with the chance of something slightly wintry for those who live as high as UK habitation gets but given the Day After Tomorrow charts showing just a week or so back, a poor effort.

Absolute sucker my area for rain today...seem to be giving a little energy boost as they travel down the eastbound section of the M62!  Ground is sodden.  Was hoping for a festive bike ride boxing day but even if the day is dry the ground certainly won't be.

Picked up 14.4mm from gauge today at 9 GMT for previous 24hrs.  Dec now 213.7 mm.  2023 now 1859.7.  Doubt we'll beat the record annual max -- 2009.6 mm.

Meanwhile added misery from last night's wild wind.

Very windy overnight and this morning very squally gusts… a few heavy showers… lovely walk around Keswick and the shops and delis… looking very festive… lots of visitors staying over for Xmas… every other person has one or more dogs… never seen so many dogs 😂🤣

Taste of our old home in Kent in Cumbria and our rib of beef for Xmas lunch(all calculated cooking times done ✅) Off out for tea in a bit…

All that heavy echoes to the north of you smashed through my area.  The water coming off the hills above me is horrendous.

Not been quite as wet here with 158 mm this month and 1282 mm so far this year according to a local weather station. Sunshine very poor at just 29 hrs so far this month and 1039 hrs for the year. It’s been a very wet year here so I can’t imagine what 1860 mm of rain in a year must be like.

Looking at todays weather, and the news; never have the words of Greg Lake’s masterpiece seemed more accurate.

“they said there’d be snow at Christmas, they said there’d be peace on Earth.

but instead it just kept on raining……………………..”

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you got everything you wanted.

have a good day.

Merry Christmas all!

Just tucking into a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel to start the day for breakfast.

Overcast, but dry to start the big day, but rain is gathering out to the West, so no doubt a wet afternoon to follow.

Yes, very sad times around the world at present. We like to have a moan at times about the state of affairs in this country, but seems extremely trivial compared to the plight of others around the world right now.

Considering it's physically impossible to be 'hot' in December in this country, how come the media are obsessed with calling Christmas Eve the 'hottest' ever? Does my head in.

Anyway, Happy Christmas!

Agreed, I think that being a mild ramper and snow hater is the main qualification for becoming a weather presenter.

they certainly seem obsessed with making Christmas be as un-Christmassy as possible🤬

Just popping in to say Happy Xmas 🎄✨ whilst eyes are on potential colder or at least more seasonal weather into January we have another stormy looking midweek period coming up - looking particularly bleak in the post Xmas- New Years Eve ‘no man’s land’ period with Wed/ Thurs seeing heavy rain & inland winds pushing 60mph+ with impacts potentially similar to last weeks Storm Pia. MO early warnings already out.
