Squall has just arrived. Pretty intense, glad I'm not out in it.

As anticipated another thoroughly wet day, in what has turned into a washout December - not one I will remember fondly with the exception of the foot of snow that fell on the 2nd Dec.

Tomorrow set to be wet again, capping off a wet 2023.

Hoping next weekend brings a change to settled and fine, and a return of frost.

Better Dec than the south, around 6cms snow here early on 3rd, but Dec is very Atlantic dominated, often more autumn than winter

Looks like Rochdale and Littleborough are going to get the most intense part of the squad line.

Was at red dragon waiting for an order and road turned into a river… really torrential but short lived…

Bright enough start to the day, bit of grey bit of blue.  There's still no real chill in the air, temp 5.4°C.  Risk of showers and maybe a chance of T and L in the mix.

A bright start here, but once again, showers/rain waiting in the wings out to the West.

Dec rain now 284.8 mm. Year 1930.8 mm.  Might get 4th place if we beat 1936.1 mm.

Some weak sunshine currently !

The Met have very generously handed out a yellow waring for rain from 6pm today, that covers a central slice of the region. It looks like you'll get the 6mm and it looks like we'll get plenty more here to add to the year's wettest month. Wrap up this evening if you're out locally.

Bright start and even the sun made an appearance for the first time in what's felt like a lifetime, but it still shy at this time of the year and quickly went back into the shadow of the rolling clouds now filtering in.  Expect as per the weather warning for the last day of 2023 to go downhill now with rain never far away.

Happy New Year one-and-all.

Bright periods interspersed with heavy showers, following heavy rain but no real squall line last night. Everywhere is so wet and sodden and I think tonight's celebrations may be a bit muted if it stays like this. Plus side is that we've had the latest sunrise of the year now and can look forward to dry, sun-kissed starts to the day all the way through to June. I'll get my hat!
