A light covering, but not enough for building a snowman.........

Keeping an eye on this LP to the north, its meant to be making its way through Scotland currently, but from the Radar it looks to be about 100 miles further south hitting NW England.

We don’t want it, pretty much anything past this point is rain for us. The colder 850s are briefly moving away till around midnight tonight

Probably about 5cm here. Last centimetre was added in the heavier stuff 30 minutes ago.

Just very light flurries at the moment.

Great to see the region doing well. I was happy seeing a 1cm in Nantwich this morning. That puts us at three days of falling snow this Winter which ain't bad for low land.

At least you got a decent covering, we got a partial dusting and that's it, nothing what has been falling is laying at all. North Lancashire should be the (lying) snow free zone!

It is interesting seeing these rainfall shadows though, sadly only occur when it's comes to snow than rain.

Very true; very lucky!

It'd stopped about 10mins ago but coming down heavy again!

The main band is now hitting carlisle, moderate snow falling biggish flakes but temps are starting to rise currently 0c from minus 3

Yes unfortunately temps will only go up from now and any snow below about 300m is likely to disappear before dusk.

If the air and dp temperatures here keep rising as they are, then both will be above freezing by midday. Hopefully, any heavier stuff will slow that rise. As others have mentioned, the big story could be the ice rink that forms when any melt freezes overnight.

Red line original flow

blue line current flow.

explains why I’ve only seen around a cm or so of snow.

to far east and now to far south.

good event for low areas thou

Snow really setting in here after a slow start, 2cms lying, temp -1.5c so it's dry snow.

Who would think the North West would do best from a Northerly!

Great day ahead.
