5.7C dull in the marginals-wind light/moderate may be picking up a little. Going to do a few outside jobs before things really pick up.

Pretty grim morning with heavy bursts ,clouds must be many miles thick judging by the poor light levels

Yes an uninspiring start, heavy rain, low cloud. Expecting very low light levels all day. A case of bracing ourselves for the gales later, best doing anything outdoors earlier today rather than later.

Indeed I’ll be walking the dogs very soon check garden for potential fly away materials and then hunker down

AMBER upgraded wind warning ⚠️ from 18:00-06:00 tonight  ⚠️💨

Yes, looks really quite severe, mentioning frequent gusts up to 60mph and also possibly reaching 70mph inland. A case of battening down the hatches and crossing fingers there is no structural damage come the morning.

8.30am - out with the dog and a surprisingly bright start to the day. Even felt almost warm at a mighty 8C when the sun came out. Clouded over a bit more since and a very slight breeze is beginning to pick up.

Was hoping to get some more concrete around a fencepost that worked loose before Christmas but probably missed my chance - back to the steel wire guy lines.

I put some braces against a section of fence at the back of garden not overly exposed but posts are rotten

Southwesterly, 30 to 40mph from dawn into morning. By middle of day into afternoon, rapid increase to 60 later 70mph, gusts 80-90mph on higher tops by dusk onward.

After a calm morning, the winds are starting to get up now so an afternoon for indoor jobs but maybe worth moving the car from near the wheely bins as they have a habit of going for a wander when it’s windy.

Yep could be quite 'wild' later afternoon and overnight.  Put some spare flagstones on top of bins because they are the only items that really go walkabout from a windy westerly.  The back garden is quite sheltered...a 20mph breeze from the east and it's a different story...all hell breaks loose.

Isha is certainly a powerful low-pressure system. I can't remember a time seeing such a widespread amber warning from the Met Office (I see they've split it into 2 but still all amber.) Met Éireann has gone for 'status red' on the northwest coast of the republic.

Blackpool and Arnside are 6.5°C and 6.3°C respectively.

Cloudy and breezy here today so far, the wind is starting to pick up more now. We have seen very little rain, just a bit damp. As is sometimes the case here during strong SW flows, we are in the rain shadow of the Welsh Hills, can see the gaping hole on the radar.
